Go up from 41.99 per adult to 46.99:scared1::confused3 I knew 42 was getting close to not being worth it. Now:eek:, it's down right :scared:. I saw it just a few minutes ago when I did a 2010 plan for 2 adults and added DDP an QD plans and it's 31.99 for QS meals:confused::sad2::sad1:

Anyone else?:confused3

If you're going doing a holiday or busy season the rates usually go up I believe.

Not sure when it went up. We paid the $31.99 QS price recently. The menu prices have definitely gone up, since I was there last year. Whatever the DDP price is now, it's cheaper than it'll be next year! ;)

jillyb seems to have hit the nail on the head!

From allears:

-- For stays 1/1/10 - 2/11/10, 4/11/10 - 6/3/10, 8/15/10 -12/16/10 cost is $41.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $11.99 per night for children ages 3-9.

-- For stays 2/12/10 - 4/10/10, 6/4/10 - 8/14/10, 12/17/10 - 12/31/10 cost is $46.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $12.99 per night for children ages 3-9.

I priced the cost for a trip for Dec by using WDW website and It looks like WDW it charging more for DDP during the "higher" traffic times:scared1:

Looks like a high volume thing:eek:

The base price of the DDP went up this year (that is the non-holiday pricing) a couple dollars. The QSDP was added last year and may have had a slight rise as well (I simply don't know). DxDDP did not increase this year however.

But, on top of that, this is the first year for seasonal pricing that effects only the DDP (QS and Dx aren't affected), so the price change from last year's year-round price to this year's seasonal price is fairly steep.

Ya, just wait till next year. The price will go up and you will get even less of what you get now!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable. The only plan that will still have any value whatsoever will be the Deluxe, until Disney stripps it down to nothing as well.

The dining surcharge is not new, although since we did QS last year I don't know for sure if the DDP prices had a surcharge to (seem to think not, but may be mistaken). However we did several OOP TS meals and there was a surcharge on those.

You escape it if you go QS or Deluxe.

For 2010, the surcharge was new for the dining plan, while it has been in effect at the restaurants prior to this.

I am hearing that the plan will change in 2011 that makes it even less of a value. To me, it seems that the plan worked so well that Disney now wants to make it less of a choice so people don't choose it.

We are DVC members and for 2010, didn't have to pay the extra but most think that will change in 2011. If that is the case, we will go away from the DDP and just pay OOP for our meal. We will have AP's and may just go to the TIW card from now on instead of the dining plans.

I to think that Disney is trying to steer more people away from their dining plans as well. It must be cutting somewhat into thier profit. Probably not that much, but more than they are comfortable with.

Most likely a case of making it easy to dump the dining plans altogether. See, first, you make changes that increase prices and lower the value to a point where no one finds value in them anymore. Next, people stop buying the plans. Finally, Disney drops the plans citing guests are no longer interested in pre-paid dining...too much food, not enough flexibility, too much money whatever, it won't matter because the spin will be that the public no longer wanted it, not that Disney wanted to get rid of it!:rotfl2:

Yep, totally agree!!:thumbsup2

I think that Disney still makes a lot of money on the dining plans. I know that tons of people are always posting on these boards about how organized their plan is for their trip, including dining (I myself plan everything out too!!, but we are a small percentage of the population that travels to WDW. I think that many people that buy any of the dining plans end up with leftover credits at the end of their trip that they never bother to use. That's how Disney makes money on the dining plans. Not everyone has their vacations planned out. And not everyone knows how important it is to make ADRs so far in advance for the busier travel seasons. In fact, I'll bet that there are plenty of people out there who don't make any ADRs and try to walk into the restaurants and are turned away many times, especially during busier seasons.

I think the increase in cost coupled with a decrease in the items included shouts that they plan to offer more free dining promotions vs room discounts.

That way they can make a valid claim that Free Dinining is saving a family of four The XX$ (increased price) on their 5 night trip, while reducing the impact to the bottom line.

I think that is very valid. My in-laws get the dining plan and only eat TS 2 or 3 times and use the rest of their credits for counter service.
