When did people stop sitting for fireworks at HS?

First weekend in oct we were told to stand up and move forward to allow room for the Fantasmic crowd to join in the back. So it may be cm directed to stand at times.

I wouldn't call the standers selfish. By that logic, the sitters are selfish for wanting the standers to do it their way.
Don't understand your logic - minority rule is it? The small group of around 10 people were right at the front with a perfect view so when they stood up they blocked the view of all behind them thus forcing hundreds to stand who were quite happy sitting before.

No - my logic is that a person who gets there after me should not dictate how I watch the show based on their preference. If you want to sit, get there early and be in front. If not, it isn't your place to decide how others want to enjoy the show.

Have you ever been to a concert?

The people behind them should have arrived earlier so that they could be in the front & choose whether to sit or stand. :)

They weren't responsible enough to do that to ensure their preferences. Their loss!

It might just be my anxiety issues but I have never, and will never, sit on the ground for fireworks or honestly in any true crowd (I have sat on the curb for a parade thus no one is directly in front of me). It is an immense safety issue in case there are any emergencies, to be sitting on the ground and even worse in a crowd like those at Disney. I was in a stampede at Penn Station this spring - it made national news - and witnessed people honest-to-goodness seriously trampled on (22 injuries) because they had been sitting on the ground in a crowded train station and could not get up in the immediate panic. I also fell over a person sitting on the ground this summer in Disneyland when she suddenly stuck her knee out forward as she turned while I was exiting a ride in Fantasyland (though I am sure it was not in any way intentional but an apology would've been nice). I actually wish Disney would enforce no sitting, because the person who is standing and trying to evacuate can then be injured on the unfortunate people who are stuck on the ground. It is a bad situation all around.

I do understand the thought train of "good views" while people sit but if/when I want a good view, I arrive early so I can be closer to the front/in a better position. I will never sit - it is not worth my safety, especially after experiencing it first-hand. If you want a good view, try to get there early as many others do.
