Went to the fair on Friday night, but did ok food-wise even though I did sneak in a scoop of yummy homemade apple icecream. Saturday was football day, plus TOM for me, so all I wanted was fat, grease & chocolate. Sunday was b-day parties for my 2 little cousins, so of course I had cake.

Just saying hi. I have a bunch of baskets to get out today but I am just about to go and weigh myself and I will weigh in an a couple of hours. See you all later.:laundy:(we need another work type smilie)

I'm -0.8 this week. I didn't think I'd be down at all after a bad week food/exercise wise and a large loss last week, so I'll take it!

Gotta quit being lazy and get back to tracking this week!

Good morning! I am down I think 1.6 this week:cheer2: I started to take a Zumba class last Monday. I don't know if that made the difference but I usually lose ounces in a week not pounds, so I will take it!!

Have a great week.

Hello fellow islanders!!

Dana...hope your grandmother recovers quickly and your aunt learns a lesson.

Patrick...Amanda stole my joke!! I think I'm jealous that you were able to lose 4 pounds in a week near the end of your journey...I'm not even at the half way point yet and I can't do it. (Still, I don't want to have to exercise the way you do so...I guess I'll just live with the slower, lazier approach. :rotfl2:) How is the date for homecoming going?? (Well that just sounds wrong. :rotfl2:)

Amanda: Stop stealing my jokes!! :lmao: Great loss this week. Sounds like you had a great time in Hershey!! I hope you are able to get your food arrangements all worked out for the next few weeks...who wants to eat greasy cheese every day??

C'mon all...I thought my pics would inspire some more of you to get yours up!! Don't be shy ladies!!

Personal Update:

I am down 2.3 pounds this week and I am THRILLED!!

I ended up earning 32 exercise points for the week :woohoo: and I only used about four flex points for a treat this weekend so I was in great shape for a good loss and the scale did not disappoint.

Thanks for the compliments on my AFTER picture. I have one more to post. :rotfl: It seems my son was jealous that DD got to take the one on Saturday so he got one of me all ready for church. I would like to point out that the items I am wearing are NOT plus sizes. They are a ladies XL. :yay:(They're stretchy though so it's pretty much cheating but I'm ignoring that detail!!!)

So, without further ado:

IMG_1974.jpg

Hmmm...I really need to invest in a black bra. The flash really illuminated it there, didn't it??

Hope the rest of you have great weigh ins!!

Julie! I'm so jealous of your skinny face! That's the last place I seem to lose. UGH! HATE My double chin!
You, my dahlin, look mahvelous! (my best Billy Crystal impersonation)

I'm up 2.2 this week but not surprised. #1 I generally gain back in week 3 when starting WW serious again and #2 yesterday was mine and DH's anniversary and I know I ate more than I normally do. ?He made dinner. I didn't eat more than I had flex points for but I'm sure the pig out the day before the weigh in didn't help.

I really want to break into the next 10 lbs place. UGH! So close. Gotta stay focused.

Congrats to all the losers this week. I WILL be rejoining the list of losers next week!!! *determined face smilie*

:lmao:

Gotta scrub the house from top to bottom today. My mom is coming in tomorrow to watch the kids for DH and I to go out to dinner for our anniversary and to watch the kids for me to go to the dentist. I am sooooooooooooo not looking forward to this. I haven't been in :scared1: six years :scared1: !

I know I know! I was that person that went twice a year all through school age and then get out on my own and apparently I thought taking care of myself wasn't important. So I have a cleaning scheduled, full set of xrays and a full exam by a new dentist. Here's hoping I like him and here's hoping I don't hear that I have 20 million cavities!

My sleep schedule is all kinds of messed up. I seem to be able to sleep fine on days I don't have to get up in the morning but any day that I know I have wake up to get DS7 to school or whatever, I have a really hard time falling asleep. And then all I want to do is crash in the mornings and sleep as late as I can after I get back from taking DS7 to school. Which isn't something I can do every morning. It depends on when DH is home in the mornings. It's affecting every other mood in my life. So I've got to figure out a way to get out of this problem!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Have a good Monday everyone!

Thanks Gelly!!

I was thinking of you yesterday. I wrote down on my calendar that it was your anniversary. Six years, right? I also have your birthday. I'm a stalker, what can I say?? :lmao:

Here's a trick to help with the double chin thing. I just recently discovered it. When posing for pictures jut your head forward a little (sorta like E.T. does only in a modified way). This will tense up the neck muscles and lessen or eliminate the double chin. Of course, this only helps with photos but it's a start!! :rotfl2:

I wish I had a trick to help with the sleeping thing. I'm exactly the same way. Can't shut my brain down when I KNOW I have to get up at a certain time the next morning. Personally, I can't really nap though...only when I'm sick usually. Otherwise I suffer from nap time hang over. :sad2: Not pretty.

I have BIG news!!

I jogged today!!

For twenty minutes!!

My walking workout DVD is already getting boring, so I began jogging a bit in the middle of it just to spice things up. I never went over five minutes in duration though until today. I was determined to move up to 10 and when I got there I thought I'd do 5 more and the when I got there...you guessed it, 5 more. So I did 20 mins and frankly, I could have gone for longer. I wasn't sapped of energy or ANYTHING!! Just a little sore in the calves and thighs...I definitely went a little deeper into the muscle tissue with the added bounce. I finished the workout at a walking pace and I FELT SO ENERGIZED!! I couldn't believe it!!

So, I'm going to try and make this a regular thing. Gonna start with Mon/Wed/Fri at first and then go from there. And the bonus is, I earned double the points I would have if I had walked for the entire 3 miles. :thumbsup2

So how many exercise points did I earn today between my workout and my housekeeping?? 15!!! :woohoo::yay::cheer2::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

Patrick, order me a virgin Pina Colada cause I am on my way!!!

Good afternoon castaways, hope you all had a nice weekend. First off, I'm up 3 lbs from last week but I'm not surprised since I was feeling sick as a dog. Tell me, how does one catch a cold in 90+ degree weather? :confused3 Looking forward to a better week and I think I might finally haul myself to the gym later today. I haven't been on an elliptical machine since a week ago. Ugh!

In other news, I have discovered frozen grapes. Oh my goodness, how did I not encounter this awesome stuff earlier in my life? I've never thought about freezing them until I was offered some by a friend who brought it with her lunch. It's like biting into frozen little balls of sorbet. You should try it if you have never had one. Great alternative to ice cream ;)

Well, my DH bought a new scale. I think it's defective. I gained weight! HA! No, I really did gain, but it's a combo of eating and drinking heavily for three days and TOM on it's way. Dang that food and drink tasted good!!!
So between switching scales, it appears I am +5!!

I will write this one off and get back on track and see how the new scale works next week!!
Congrats to all you other losers!

Good afternoon everyone! I'm down 3.5 this week! That makes 15.5 total for me. Sounds good, but not so much considering how long ago I joined this great group.

On the one hand, if I hadn't joined, I probably would have gained a few, so I guess anything other than that is a positive, but I honestly haven't been giving it everything I could have/should have.

My main thing I want to start is tracking (I know I should have been doing this all along). My main problem with starting is that I can't figure out the method I want to use. I've joined WW a few times in the past :o and have done ok on it, but for various reasons, I can't go to the meetings right now. I have all of the current materials, so I could just use their method on my own or join online.

OR, I've also looked into counting calories - so many of you on here have done great with this method. The only thing that worries me about this way of tracking is that one of the things that I loved about WW is the weekly flex points. I like knowing that if I want to have a "bad" meal out once a week, I have the flexpoints to take care of that. Do any of you that count calories, have an extra set of calories out there to use weekly as you want? Or am I just overanalyzing again?

The thing that appeals to me about counting calories, is that I could track everything on my phone as I go throughout the day and it seems like when I was calculating points, I was just kind of figuring everything twice. But, I'm still worried about those weekly "splurges".

Anyway, just wondering everyone's thoughts! I'm so indecisive!

I did WW and had success a few years ago. Then thought I needed to count calories instead to better understand my metabolism and to count carbs and fat and sugar etc as well and to translate to the body bugg I ordered. Not to mention there are some pretty awesome calorie counter programs out there that are FREE!

I tried it and did ok. But I learned something about myself. For whatever reason, WW works better for me. :confused3 I think the flex points are a huge part as you mentioned. But I have accepted my WW fate.

I do online. Have never been to a meeting. I enjoy the e tools. When I need a meeting like boost of motivation I surf weight loss blogs, come onto the WISH board or read WW boards.

Just my experiences! Tracking is definitely the key for me. No doubt about it. When I start getting cocky and thinking I can count in my head or approximate ho2 many points I think I've had, I gain.

I'm kinda like you... I started way back when this group first started and get frustrated that I haven't lost more but honestly if I hadn't had this group and hadn't been trying on and off seriously I would probably have gained 20 lbs instead of losing the 10 I've lost twice now. :lmao:

Good luck! Let us know what you decide on!

I need to be good like you guys and track my food....but I don't.
Got on the Wii Fit this afternoon and I am down -3.3 lbs. Unfortunately, it is the same 3 lbs I had gained over the past 2 weeks....up, down, up, down - dagnabit!!:confused3

Tracking for today:

Breakfast: Lean Cuisine breakfast pocket
Lunch: Veggie Plate and 5oz Grilled Salmon
Dinner: 2 Lite Beef Hotdogs w/ Low Fat Cheese

Total: 1399

Happy Monday everyone!

Yes, I said Happy Monday, but I assure you the only thing happy about it is that it's almost over! Started the day by waking up late and had to rush around getting DD ready for preschool, then got a call that she got bitten on the arm by one of the boys in her class. (From what I could get out of her at home, she was playing with something on the playground that he wanted. All she kept saying was "but I was playing with the spinners first." Poor thing, totally confused. Did tell her I was proud for not biting or hitting back.) She came home, finished her lunch, then laid in her room for two hours and never slept a wink. All the while I was riding a tension headache, so eventually I let her come lay in my bed so I could take a nap. I dozed a bit, don't think she ever did, but at least she mostly stayed put watching Nick Jr. DH has his meeting at the fire station every Monday evening (he's a volunteer FF) so it was just her and I. Things were mostly okay, but she was quite cranky from not napping. I was tolerating it until she stood just outside the bathroom door, with her panties around her knees, and bent over and watched herself pee on the floor. NOT how I wanted to end my day.

Gelly, glad you feel my pain on the PT front. Having a 2yo is fun most of the time, but today was not one of those days.

Dawn and Julie, y'all crack me up! Just the comic relief I needed! Get out there and kick some preggo butt!

And Julie, love the pics!

ski_mom, I've never done WW, just tracking my calories on Sparkpeople. It gives you a calorie range to stay w/in, so if I know I'm going to have a splurgy event coming up, I'll try to make sure that I'm at the bottom of the range for several days before, and try not to exceed the top of the range by too much when I do splurge.

Wasn't able to get a weight before my procedure last week. They had a bit of trouble getting around the bone spurs to get into the disc, so I was down all day Friday with a sore back (but what did I expect from a six inch needle?). Went on a cleaning rampage Saturday and waaay overdid it, so took it easy again yesterday. DH is home tomorrow so I doubt I get much exercise done, but I'm gonna try to get out and go roll the neighborhood again on Wednesday.

Congrats to all of this weeks losers!

Thanks to all for your kind words wishing my grandma well!

As for my aunt getting a clue...this whole thing has already happened before almost exactly (except it was a broken collarbone instead of shoulder), so I fear that won't be happening. I suppose we're all just lucky it wasn't her hip or leg that ended up broken because then she'd probably be in a nursing home for the rest of her days. :sad1:

Anywho, here's the tracking for today:

Breakfast - banana
Snack - cucumber w/ hummus
Lunch - turkey & avocado on sammie thin; plum
Dinner - cajun tilapia, rice pilaf, green beans; broccoli salad (vinegar base); cottage cheese
Snack - lime & salt popcorn; indian corn candy

Total - 1200 cal
Water - 64 oz

Anybody watching Dancing with the Stars? :rolleyes1
One of my guilty pleasure shows.

The season premier of Glee is tomorrow night! As a former showchoir nerd, it brings back great memories and I watch religiously. I even won tickets to go see the live show back in May. :lovestruc

Hope everyone had a decent Monday! Congrats to all the losers!

Amanda – Your weekend sounds delightfully delish. I’ve never been to Hersey Park, but just your “we got to make our own candy bar” was enough to put it on my list of places I HAVE to go to. I’m really surprised that a hospital wouldn’t have better food choices. I didn’t realize that Piper would need to stay in the hospital that long. Is there an address where we could all send her some mail?

Julie – the new picture looks fantastic. Is that the mini-stepper thing in the background you mentioned before? That looks like something that I could do. Congratulations on the jogging!! Were you on a treadmill or doing it the old fashioned way? (did that sound bad?)

Aimee – I’m with you on the miserable sleep pattern. Whenever I can’t sleep it ruins me for a couple of days. Dr. Oz says milk, cheese, turkey and spinach in the evening will help you sleep. Are you thinking of things that you don’t want to forget or worried that you won’t get up in time or you won’t hear the alarm clock? (all issues of mine) I’ve put a notepad and pencil next to my bed so I can write notes when I think of them (sometimes the writing is hard to read, but I can normally figure it out) and made sure I got a super easy to set alarm clock. I’ve been lucky lately (well, now I’m sure I’ve just jinxed myself) and haven’t had any really bad nights lately.

I guess my body is finally feeling the full effects of all the bread I ate last week. I’m up 1.6 this week. But today I took back the reins and did really well with my food today. I think I need to back away from the bread and starches for a while.

Breakfast: yogurt and hard boiled egg
Lunch: Salad with steak and home grown tomato, strawberries
Snack: fiber one bar & nectarine
Dinner: Taco salad with hamburger, black beans, tomato and salsa
Dessert: Frozen yogurt

It was delish! When Piper goes in we actually go to a children's rehab center with 20 beds rather than the main hospital. She's always on isolation, and in the main hosp they won't let her out of her room. At the rehab center, she's still on iso, but gets to go out for physical therapy, recreational therapy, and school..it all adds up to about 4 hrs a day..she also goes to the cafeteria, and can go outside whenever she likes. She also gets music and art therapy in her room. It's a much more structured, active environment, not just laying in a bed or sitting in a chair all day. The trade-off is the food situation, and usually a communal shower instead of one in the room. She can get mail, and she would love that, I'll send you the addy, if you wouldn't mind passing it along to anyone else who'd like it..

I'm almost all packed, didn't do so well with eating today, am way under, but we always spend the day before running around..picking up schoolwork, paying bills, grocery shopping, etc. No exercise today, or probably tomorrow, so the low thing doesn't bother me too much. All right..another long day tomorrow, so off to bed with me!
