When did Disney become so hostile to offsite guests?

With all due respect I think you missed the point of my post. Yes thte title was hyperbole but that was a reaction to my shock. EMH are not the issue. It is the shear number of them. We have stayed onsite 9 times and there has never been more than 2 morning ones at any park. In fact this year the other parks only have one each. My complaint was that AK has 7 in the 8 days we are here and when we made our plans in April Disney's calendar only showed 2.

I can't speak to Disney's specific reasons, but as we all know they surely have an army of people working to rationalize park attendance and how to drive people to a certain park (and drive spending likewise). But I did notice, if you look at other parks right now, there seem to be the 1-2 per park/week that you and I have both historically seen. It's really May-June just in AK (driving crowds there until TSL is ready?) http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-world/extra-magic-hours.htm

It is kind of funny, if you read a lot of threads from on-siters you might get the opposite impression, lots of opining on how EMH's are suffering due to all the paid events EMM, DAH, expanded dates MNNSHP/MVMCP, etc.

Hyperbole aside...

Disney wants you on their property. They will do as much as they can to make you want to stay onsite.

The end.

And there is nothing wrong with that. You are paying a premium to be on site and there should be benefits for that. I agee with you.

I'm thinking of a last minute trip Memorial day weekend - solo. I ALWAYS stay on-site but I don't think I can justify the high prices any longer. I've stayed at value, moderate and deluxe, even rented points for AKL studio (best value!) but it's so outrageous at this point here is my tentative plan. Rent a private room through air bnb. I found a great one - 3 miles from the parks, excellent reviews. For three nights the TOTAL is $123.00. You can even get in the All-Stars for one night for that price at any time with any discount. I don't mean to slam the All Stars but I'm sorry, it's a 2 star budget hotel at best - with the exception of being on the property. So, if I do end up going, and I have to decide soon, I'm renting air bnb. We've done it before for Siesta Key, FL and San Francisco and have been very pleased every single time. I really think paying for parking was the last straw for me, but the prices alone are enough of a straw. I love Disney and I'd love to stay on property, but I just can't justify it any longer. Especially with the new perks for Good Neighbor and Disney Springs hotels.

To be honest, as someone who stays onsite for the perks (and pays way too much for a glorified Motel 6), I was incredibly annoyed that Disney began to offer the 60 day FP window to many offsite resorts.

IMO staying offsite is quickly looking better and better. If we drove that would seal the deal.

Just my .02

Lets be reasonable here. Sure the price of the room at WDW is inflated but to compare the room and surroundings to a motel 6 is not accurate all.

And FoP is far from impossible to get inside 30 days. I've done so on two recent trips. And we like it so much that I generally get an additional same day FOP as a fourth or subsequent FP+ when we're at AK. Granted I'm only getting FP+ for two, which makes it easier, but with some diligent refreshing, I've always been able to get a same day FoP FP+ for the time I wanted. If you look at the app and it says there aren't any and you give up, that's on you. Or if you just refresh a couple of times and give up. It can be done but it takes some effort and persistence.

Because the intent of the OP was to post about the increase in EMH days during his stay and this thread is now totally off-topic for the Board by discussing onsite resort costs, closing.
