When did cheetah clothes become all the rage?

My 7 yr. old granddaughter just LOVES any kind of cheetah clothes.. Several of the things she picked out for school this year were cheetah designs and it's ALL she talks about.. Last night her other grandmother gave her an early Christmas gift - cheetah coat, hat, scarf and gloves..

This morning when she left for school she looked so darn cute - jeans with cheetah fur on the pockets, cheetah belt, cheetah top - and of course the cheetah coat, hat, scarf and gloves..

I wasn't even aware that there were cheetah design clothes out there (shows you how often I shop - LOL).. So is it just her - or is this the new "in" thing with the 7yr. old set?

my 7 year old loves the chetah look as well and she has for a couple of years now

My DD is 14 now and wore the leopard print clothes when she was that age, so the looks have been around for at least 5-7 years, since the late 1990's.

I remember my best friend in 1st and 2nd grade LOVED cheetahs (sp?). (this was late 90s). She wore teh clothes, had a cheetah bag. everything. I remember for her birthday one year I got her this giant cheetah stuffed animal for her room. It was like a body pillow, but it was shaped like a cheetah. We are in the same classes this year. she says she still has it. So this has been around for awhile. at least 5-7 years.
