when do they actually total it and put it on your card? We arrive on Monday June 19 and leave Sun the 25. I get direct deposit from work and my check will be deposited that Thursday. Was wondering if I should take money out of savings to cover until Thursday or will they wait until the final day to tally up my bill and put it on all at once? I appreciate all the help y'all have given me over the last few months! :cool1:

I've always used a credit card when I signed in at the resort desk, and it always has some limit on it, like $1500 or something. If you're not using a credit card, I believe you have to pay them in advance to be able to "charge" things on your card.

I believe that they don't send the charge in until the day before you check out. Ours usually show two "payments" -- one total for everything we charged from arrival to the day before we leave, and then a second for everything we charged between that and the morning we check out.

I just checked our American Express bill since we just got back. We stayed there June 1 to June 4 (doing WDW then doing a Disney cruise June 4 to June 8), and WDW didn't charge our account until June 5th (probably because June 4 is a Sunday). Then the Disney Cruise line charged us for the stuff we charged there on June 8, last day of the cruise. Hope this helps!

When we stayed at CBR, we used our debit card and they held $1000 dollars. Once we hit the thousand dollars, they charged our card and we paid for anything else with our debit card. The only things we had left to pay when checking out were things like medicines from Turner Drugs and Internet Access.

Do you have a credit card that you can check in with then pay with your debit card when you check out? When you check-in, they will ask for a method of payment and will authorize enough for your stay. Because it's linked to your checking acct, it will hold that amount.

It dependson where you are staying. They charge the card once you hit your limit

Value Resorts $500
Moderates $1,000
Deluxes $1,500

So, If you are staying at a value (for example), they charge your card every time it reaches $500.

Yup!! This is correct! I thought I was getting close to my limit about 7 days into my 10 day vacation so I stopped by the desk to have them "charge it off" so I wouldn't be embarrassed at a store or restaurant if I reached my limit and something didn't go through (this has happened to me before--they call the resort, charge it off and then you're good to go, but its embarrassing when there's a bunch of people around and they can't process the next person until you talk to the front desk at the resort.) ANYWAY, when I went to the front desk, the very nice man there told me that someone had noticed I was close to the limit and had already charged it off, so I was back at zero and ready to go!!! Boy had I wish he had NOT said that!@!!!! :teeth:

They have to do something to ensure that on checkout day they don't run into a refused authorization for the whole shebang.

Let me see if I understand this correctly (kinda slow this am :surfweb: ).
I'm staying at POFQ so I have a $1000 limit to spend before they actually charge my card. The only time it matters about the $ in the bank is when they actually charge my card, right? I'll have money in the bank when I arrive, I'm just not sure if it'll be enough. This is my first time there and I don't want to be spending any time at the front desk trying to figure out my account  . I'm on the DDP and everything will already be payed for except extras. My DS6 has $140 of his own to spend so I don't really think I'll need that much extra, except maybe for the bar by the pool :teeth: :smokin: . Thank y'all so much! I don't know what I would've done had I not found the DIS and such helpful people :grouphug: .

Wait, so if I am staying at POP my limit is 500? I dont get it.

When you get to your resort they will ask for a credit card to secure your funds on the items you charge back to your room. You only have a $500 limit until they charge your card then it goes back up to $500 again. So if you were there for 10 days your could spend way more than 500. Think of it as like a countdown timer. Everything you charge comes off that $500. When it gets close to 0 they charge your credit card what you owe already, then the limit goes back up to $500 so you could charge more. They just put a hold on your card for that $500 amount so that you don't stiff them with the bill. SO right after you check in they swipe your card so it puts that amount on hold on your card so that all they have to do is charge it after that. Kind of like how the rental car places need a crad to secure the rental. Hope this helps. I have no idea why the value resorts are only 500 and the others are higher.

We did it a bit differently. We took enough money in traveller's checks and planned on using that to pay off the charges. So we told them at the front desk our intentions, and we gave them our debit card to hold until then. They put a $1 charge on our card, probably to check to see if it was active. Then, the night before we checked out, DH went down to the front desk and settled the account with our traveller's checks.

Thank you all for the answers! I guess I'll just have to watch my spending closely until Thursday! :rotfl:
