When can you get a 4th FP+?

I figure it's obvious that after you have used your 3 scheduled FP+ you can get a 4th (based on availability of course) but are you able to get that 4th one after you have used the 1st FP+ and have yet to use your other 2 scheduled FP+ OR must you use all 3 pre-schedued ones first? If the latter is the case then I could see it being more difficult to score a 4th FP if your 3rd FP+ is a late afternoon window.

1. Yup. (Or at least reached the end of the "window" of the 3rd FP.)
2. That's about the whole thing in a nutshell.
Even worse, if your 3rd FP is for one of the nighttime or park-closing shows.

Immediately after you scan the 3rd FP at the scanner or as soon as the 3rd FP window expires, whether you used it or not.

Thanks, and that was what I was afraid of. Of course I tried to schedule the difficult attractions in the mid-day or later windows so if we desired we could ride via stand-by at park opening if we really wanted to hit certain attractions more than once and try to mitigate wait times some.

That's the right strategy - just book the FP starting at 10-11 so you can use your first FP after you've had 90 minutes of park opening to ride standby and you can be ready to get more FP not long after noon which will give you lots of time to try to get add'l FP during the day. No need to wait until mid-day or later. We got 12 at MK in 1 day during Jersey week.

Especially if you're willing to spend a little time during the day refreshing a lot - you'll be able to get a bunch at pretty much any park during regular attendance times.

Nothing wrong with your approach, it's whatever works best for you and your priorities. There are some who rope drop and ride 4-5 rides on standby while rides are short and wouldnt think to schedule any FP+ until after 11am at the earliest. Others schedule FP+ early so they can be finished with their 3 FPs earlier and have more time to schedule 4th and later FP+. Some do a mix of both approaches. I do agree though, if your 3rd FP+ is for RoL or Illuminations...a 4th FP+ probably won't be in the cards for you.

perfect approach.

in my opinion too many people focus more on the quantity of FP+ rather than the quality. you can have just as much success from 9-10 with no fp+ as you can with, you just need to be "smart" about which attractions you do in that first hour+. pick your first three wisely and be flexible after that.

Totally agree. I think the first 1-2 hours are better than FPs if you choose the right rides. That said I still do a mix if there’s a harder to get 4th FP that I want to try for. Aind sometimes it just works out better with getting an FP early because that’s where we are in the park. I sometimes try for a 9:30 7DMT if we’re going to be in Fantasyland because it’s still a good time savings at that time.

Thanks all. In my planning, I somehow misunderstood and thought you could get your 4th after you scanned in for your first. I was frustrated when it didn't work that way yesterday.

I totally agree with this. I feel like a lot of people have it in their heads that the only goal is how many FPs can they get, rather than having as many short waits as possible.
