When can you book a reservation for December 2014?

We are making our 2nd trip to WDW for Christmas in 2014 When will they start making those reservations? I was thinking they will make room only reservations before they will make package reservations. If that is the case, can you convert your room only reservation to a package later if you want? Thanks!

Room-only reservations can be made by telephone or through a travel agent starting 500 days (or maybe 499 days) in advance. If actual rates aren't out yet the deposit will be made based on the highest rack-rate from the current year. If you're going at Christmas that's likely at least as much as you will wind up paying.

Packages and online reservations can't be booked until the actual rates for that year are released. This generally happens in the June/August time period.

The pp is correct. You can call and book room only 499 days out, which will be quoted at the highest rate for that resort/room type for 2013. Your reservation will automatically be adjusted once the 2014 rates come out. If you want a package to begin with, it's best to wait until the new rates are released. If you change from room only to a package later on, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded and the package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. Room only and packages are different reservation systems so money paid toward one cannot be transferred to the other (thus the need for cancelling and rebooking).
