When can we start using our DDP credits?

I think I may already know the answer to this....but can anyone tell me for sure?

We have a split stay--arriving 12/8 for 2 nights hotel only and the switching to 5 nights package with free dining. Both stays are at AKL. Do we literally check out and check back in? Or does it all happen the first time we check in?

And so when would we be able to start using our DDP credits? I'm guessing on 12/10 when our package starts.

The day your package starts is when your dining plan can start. You will receive your documents indicating the dates that you can use your dining.

You cannot access your credits until the day you "check in" for the package, so will not be able to use them the first 2 nights. You can check in early on the package day, though, and then you're good to go with the credits.

And yes, you literally check out & back in. You will probably be able to keep the same room...you might want to mention the set-up when you check in the first time, might help getting to keep the same room. But it is possible they will actually make you get your stuff out & move to another room, just so you know it's possible. That's a small risk with a split stay.

You will have to check out/in but hopefully, not have to move rooms. Just remind them at check in that you have the two reservations.

As far as the food credits, you are correct that they will begin the day of check in and can be used through midnight on your check out day.

You can start using them as soon as you check in...but only the check-in for the package reservation. You will also need new KTTW cards with DDP loaded when you switch to the package (your dining plan cards need to have your dining plan allotments printed on them), so you literally have to check out and check back in.
