I know I saw this before?????? when can we book the main lodge rooms at AKL? as in the first date we can call in for these rooms?
I want to make sure I get ours for christmas next year!!!:santa:

Once AKV opens, you will not be able to book at AKL at all. The date the AKV villas become available is supposed to be September 1st. I have heard different dates for when we can start making reservations though. My guide said April, but many here are reporting May.

The conflict is that some of us were told April and some were told May. I can imagine that will be a terrible day to call MS! LOL!

I spoke to MS today and the date for NON-AKL point holders is June 6th. I think the date if you owned at AKL was May 16th.
I was told the same thing by my guide last week.

On May 16th, AKV owners can book at AKV using AKV points, subject to the 11-month window. **
** I'm still confused by the restriction to using AKV points. Does anybody know if the restriction to use AKV points really applies to reservations within the 7-month window or is it just for reservations more than 7 months out?

On June 6th, any DVC owner can book at AKV using any points (subject to the 7-month window).

The resort is supposed to open in early Sept (Sept 1st?).

Thanks for the clarification, Lisa. My guide must have had incorrect info with the April date.

The original info that the guides were given was April. Subsequently that has been corrected/adjusted/whatever to May 16. Then the scrum will begin.

AKL points can only be used for stays commencing after September 1. In other words, you can use your AK points to book reservations for 9/1 and later at any DVC resort. You can make those reservations as soon as your contract is set. Banking and borrowing deadlines will apply immediately, even before the new villas open.

May 16, the day that will live in MS reservation history... Good news for people on the waitlist, though. I have a feeling that many rooms will open up.:santa:

I will mark May 16th on my calendar.
Oh wait... I will be at VB on May 16th!
The only downside is that I now have to set my alarm while on vacation... :scared1:

So people with an AKV add-on can use, for example, Old Key West points to book AKV for September 1 - December 15? I agree - that has the potential to be quite a day on the phones!

I don't think that's correct. They can use OKW points to book those dates, but they can't book the ressie until June. :smokin:

I am just extra confused today - can't seem to do math or make sense of charts. I probably need a nap!

I think I'm starting to understand this now. If you want to start booking at AKV on May 16th you will have to use your AKV points to do so. AKV owners who want to use points from other resorts have to wait until June 6th to do that, even if they are booking a stay within the 7-month window.

So as an AKV owner, we get a 3-week head start but only when using AKV points. I guess that's to keep us from booking up every available AKV villa for the next 7 months using all of our other DVC points before other DVC owners get an equal chance at booking something there.

Yes, that is the way I understand it. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong! :smokin:

Has anyone said how many units will be available for the fall opening?

You write that like its a bad thing.....:rolleyes1

Just got off the phone with my guide who says they are behind on sending out the paperwork - go figure - and I should have it by the end of this week or beginning of next.

I also double checked with him and it sounds like MG is interpreting correctly, that it will be AKV owners booking with AKL points for those first few weeks, which I must say makes sense to me (at long last.)

I was just told by my Guide, Byron, that it is May 15th, NOT May 16th. Also, that it is September 7th and NOT the 1st.

Oh, my! I hope that September 7th date holds firm and doesn't get pushed back any further. I arrive at WDW on September 7th and would love to stay there on opening day. I wonder how quickly it will book? Does anyone know how full BCV was on opening day? I imagine it will be at capacity, with bookings going pretty fast. Has that been DVC's experience on opening day at other resorts?
