When can I price/book resorts for 2020?

We are CA natives and (self-proclaimed) Disneyland experts. But we’ve finally decided it’s time to take the plunge and check out WDW. We’ve been eyeing Art of Animation resort and would like to plan a February 2020 trip. I’ve been trying to plug in dates on Costco Travel or Disney site but they won’t let me check rates out past Dec 2019. Any idea when I can start pricing/booking onsite resorts for 2020? Thanks!

You can book over the phone. I did for May 2020. You will be charged the highest rack rate for now, and then when packages/prices come out for 2020 your price will be adjusted for any increase. You will have to pay for a full night's stay as a deposit, not the $250 deposit for packages. Your reservation shows up on MDE. :)

Happy planning!

yes - I think 30 days, but please double check me!

edit- I double checked myself - you need to cancel 5 days ahead for full refund. 30 days must be packages (which is what we normally do)

CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to receive a refund of your deposit, including credit card deposit transactions, notification of cancellation must be received at least 5 days prior to your arrival date.

(from my confirmation)

You can book a room-only reservation up to 499 days in advance. If you are interested in a package (room plus tickets and/or dining), they aren't available yet. Typically package pricing is released during the summer. If you really have to make a reservation now, as PP noted, you can, but you will be charged current rack rate for a room-only and that price will then be adjusted once 2020 rates are released. If you book room only now and want a package, you will have to convert that reservation to a package later. IMHO, AoA is not going to sell out, so if you want a package, I would just wait for them to be released. If you book now, you will have to give them a deposit of one night's stay plus tax. That is refundable up to 5 days prior to check-in, balance due at check-in. If you book a package, it's a $200 deposit, balance due 30 days prior to check-in, deposit is non-refundable after balance due date and full package cost is non-refundable one day prior to check-in.

When you’re excited, the waiting is tough. I get it. Immerse yourself in first time planning podcasts and websites. There are so many good sites to fill your time while you wait for summer and 2020 dates to open.

This is correct. Just wanted to add that the RO would have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other.

I'm with you! Sitting and waiting for those dates to come out! They usually come out the weekend near Father's Day in June for the next year. Hoping it comes soon- ready to start planning!

WE are going the 1st of July 2019 and staying at Wilderness Lodge and want to go back in Dec of 2020 can we book our stay for then while we are there in July?

I don't think so. You can book 499 days out. 499 days from July 1st 2019 is only November 11th 2020.

When they release the 2020 prices in June 2019, won't they release the full year? As in, all the way to December 31, 2020? I'm pretty sure they do. I was thinking the 499 days applies to dates beyond what is released...

The rack rates are released for the full year, but the booking system will only go 499 days into the future.

So as I understand it, you're saying that in June (historically) they will show the prices for rooms online until Dec. 31, but later 2020 dates won't be "bookable" until 499 days? Which would mean if I want to go Christmas Day 2020 I would have to wait until August 14, 2019 to purchase the vacation?

Not doubting you, just never realized that it wasn't bookable for the entire year.

Correct. And you can book 499 days before check out day. So if you're checking out on December 25th you can book starting August 14th. If checking out on December 26th you can book starting August 15th, etc.

:thumbsup2

I’m still not seeing dates past December 2019 through Costco. I don’t think I can wait much longer to book for Feb 2020 but I’d really love to do it through Costco. Anyone know when they’ll release those 2020 packages?

. 2020 packages are out on Disney’s website so sounds like a Costco issue. Call their travel number and ask.
