Hi, I have always thought it was 11 months before. I usally leave it until 11 months before our return date so that I can do both outbound and inbound. I think I did it on line before so if you go on their website and have a dig around you should be able to get sorted.

We return on the 20th Feb 2012 with Virgin Holidays and although they say its 11 months or 336 days from your return it won't let me book seats either through the Virgin Atlantic site. When I rang them they said the flight isn't released yet and try back in 2 weeks!

We had trouble with this last year - we booked through TCD (also Virgin) and the flight website wouldn't accept by booking number. I phoned TCD and they gave me the flight reference. I logged back on and reserved seats straight away.

Please be aware that even though you book the seats for your return trip, unless you confirm them 24 hours before the flight home they will give them to someone else!!! This happened to us even though we did the DTD check in at 7:00am!!!!

Thanks I will call them this morning. I plan on doing on line check in on the way home, I dont think I will bother with the DTD checkin as we are using ME

I called va today they said as ii have not paid in full I can't view on line this was never the case before when I booked through vh, they also said I am on the 1300 not the 1115 and I am under a different booking reference than dh dd and ds.. Very confused

Can the OP log into the VH site with the booking ref (eg 1234/W11)? I can do this and view my flight times, accomodation details and payment details. I have only paid the deposit and go in Feb 2012. It's the VA site which doesn't regnognise the booking ref , and VH said that's because the flights haven't been allocated yet?

VH and VA are two different companies. To book your seats VH has to pass on your booking to VA who then issue their ref.# (something like FTG00X).

You will then be able to go onto the VA site and put in you seat preferences (which can be subject to change if the plane is changed!).

Thanks everyone, Its been approx 3 years since I used VH but I am sure I could pre book my seats on the VA website. I called them and they have done that for me over the phone.
