When can I book a cash night?

The 2010 reallocation has left us short of the points we need to book our next stay. I am thinking of booking one cash night rather than cutting the trip short. Do I have to wait until 11 months out or can I call earlier?

This would be for late Jan 2010 and I have no idea whether Disney has set the room rates for 2010. Will MS be able to reserve the room if the room rates aren't known yet? And when will I be charged for the room? Thanks!

When I wanted to book a cash stay at HHI I was told to call at 11 months. We were given a fabulous member discount rate. I didn't even have to give my credit card but was told to cancel 6 days out if necessary. Doesn't make sense to me--how can they charge me if I don't cancel by 6 days if they don't even have my credit card number? Good luck. Sorry to hear that the point reallocation has necessitated this extra expense for you.
Hopefully you will be lucky and get a great rate. Our cash discount rate was WAY cheaper than the points requirement.

I just wanted to add that if the cash discount is not available at 11 mos, book the room at the rack rate, and keep calling back every couple of weeks (or months). We did this for a family reunion this summer at HHI- we had a GV booked on points but needed 2 more 2BRVs and the cash discount was available 2 or 3 months after the 11 mo mark.

I tried looking up room rates but the disney world website doesn't show rates past Dec 31, 2009. I assume that if that website won't show rates for Jan 2010 then MS won't have any information either, correct?
