When can I book (11 month query)

I want to start booking for a trip starting October 14th 2007.

I have a DVC Desktop countdown thing and that is showing me that it is 11 months and 5 days until my trip, so I was planning on starting to call in 5 days time.

However, I'm sorting out all my points using CaskBills planner, and it is showing me a booking date of November 20th which is 12 days time.

I'm inclined to believe CaskBill but I'm not sure how the 11 month window is calculated.

It is 11 months from your check-OUT day from the resort. For instance, to book the night of October 14th you may call on or after November 15th, as your check-out day would be October 15th. In most cases, using your 11 month window, you can call on 11 months from you final check-out day and book the entire trip witout a problem. In otherwords, you could book the nights of October 14, 15, 16, and 17 on November 18th with one phone call without calling everyday. The exception may be for standard view BW rooms, during Food & Wine at an EPCOT area resort, or major holiday seasons.

It sounds like CaskBill's program is showing you when you can book the complete holiday and the DVC countdown is to when you can start booking day by day.

Thanks! I just found another option in CaskBills planner which shows the day by day dates and I suddenly realised that was exactly what was happening - one was showing the date for the first day, and the other the date for the end of the trip.

I was planning on booking preferred view BW rooms, but as it is F&W time I think I need to call day by day. I can't call right at opening time as that's 2pm over here and I will be at work, but I am hoping that calling a few hours after opening won't be too late.

Yes, it would seem that darn Caskbill has thought of everything.

Just wait until his DVC Tracker is released in the coming weeks. It is a very complete program with more features than most will ever need.

Caskbill's dates (booking windows, banking deadlines, etc) are also adjusted for weekends and holidays when MS is not open.

That's especially handy for the banking deadlines, because if your deadline falls on a Monday, and that Monday is a holiday, MS will not be open and your deadline will have passed by Tuesday.

If you want either a standard view villa or a guaranteed boardwalk view, you should call day by day. Otherwise you could probably call 11 months prior to your final check-out date and book the whole trip with one phone call.
