When buying additional: Advice on buying same or different use year?

I have my original DVC with Grand Floridian, use year in August. Are there advantages/ advice/disadvantages on buying different use year? The thing I remember the salesman told me....people always wish they bought more points....and boy, is that true! (I am day 23 waiting in Disney ROFR for a resale at BLT-fingers and toes crossed). But.....if they take back the BLT....I want a back up plan. I will keep trying. Thanks in advance! (If this has already been addressed...sorry...I don't see)

If you purchase a different UY, it will be a new membership. With multiple memberships, you can't seamlessly book a room using points from both memberships.

If it's the same UY, you can easily combine points from both contracts to make a reservation. If different home resorts, this can only be done when booking at 7 months from arrival.

Same UY is easier to manage, a different UY is keeping track of twice as many dates and keeping things straight.

The reason to have a UY that covers the 8 months that you would vacation is for protection should you need to cancel your vacation and you need to bank your points. We have used the protection twice, once due to a death in the family and once due to a forced job relocation.

Sounds like we were smart to try to buy same UY (still waiting for Disney ROFR-so still trying )

Some just depends on your use plans and the size of the contracts. If you plan to use each independently then there's next to no issue. If you want to use them together then there's extra planning. The positives of having a different UY is that you get 2 waitlists in each one and depending on the UY's and if you travel at different times of the year you can be set up better against last minute cancellations.
