May 19th for us in Anderson, SC. And you bet we'll be in Disney ASAP! Actually, we are planning to leave for WDW on May 17th since the 19th is a Monday and all they really do is go and pick up their report card.
Our schools get out June 17 here in Turnersville, New Jersey. But, since everyone in this state goes to WDW that week in November, there shouldn't be anyone from here down there in the summer!
Cranford, NJ public schools, June 21 There's over a month difference in some of these school closings! Since every American school has to be in session a minimum of 180 days, I'm curious to know what the schedules are for those schools that get out in May. They must not have many mid year vacations or holidays.
But I have to admit I would gladly trade the end of August for early June because of the weather.
The last few years it has been cold through June and still hot through the end of Sept.
Last June....the last day of school it was 58 degrees!!!
Today....it is supposed to be 80!!!!
I would much rather be able to enjoy days off when it is warmer.
I would love to see them get rid of some of the nonsense holidays too...so they didn't have to start so early...this year...August 23!!
Our town (North of Boston) goes on summer break anywhere from June 20th to June 30th depending on snow days. This means we are unable to plan any trips to Disney until July. By then it is much too busy for us! The good news....we plan our trips for the last week in August when the crowds start to die down a bit.
Here in central Ma(Worcester Cty.) we're out the third week in June. I'ld be interested in knowing when kids go back to school. We're trying out going to wdw the third week in Aug. Last week of school vacation for us. Anyone else??
Schools that are getting out in May, went back in August instead of September. This year, we started school on August 19th and will get out on May 30th. Public schools around metro Atlanta went back anywhere from August 5th - 12th. I think we all go the same number of days basically no matter where you live. The northern states seem to adhere to the September - June schedule and here in the South, we go August - May.
Just curious....is this a private school? I had always thought that the 180-school-day rule that our school follows was a nation-wide regulation, not just state. Perhaps I was mistaken (I'll admit it - it does happen on occasion )
