When are the MK Christmas decorations coming down?

Xmas was only 18 days a go...not Xmas's fault WDW put up the decor in Oct !

As far as I know, the only Christmas decor that would've been up in October was the castle lights, and they weren't lighting them in October.

This is correct. I live here and the Christmas decorations weren't up until November. They don't put them up until MNSSHP ends. I was in the park the first night the castle lights were lit and it was definitely not in October.

The castle show ended yesterday, 1/12. Decorations are coming down now. They didn't forget to take them down, they were kept up for the marathon weekend.

Don't forget that Christmas itself doesn't end until 5 January.

And for many of our Eastern European guests (who observe Christmas according to the Julian Calendar), that would mean going until the 18th.

For years, due to college break schedules, we always arrived at Disney sometime between New Years Day and 1/3 and stayed until between 1/7 and 1/9. Most of those years we stayed at VWL and for a few years we would go to the main WL lobby late in the evening, get a hot chocolate from Roaring Forks and just sit in the lobby and wait until after 11:00 p.m. to see if the tree and decorations were coming down that night. We witnessed the process two or three times. It always happened around the 4th or 5th of January. We always called it "the undecorating of Wilderness Lodge" An entire crew of people would show up with huge crates, boxes, etc. and begin. One of the castmembers told me everything is numbered and the crates the items are stored in are also numbered. It was pretty neat to see them drive a lift truck into the center of WL lobby to get the higher decorations and the tree down. They would work all night long and finish up at 5 or 6 in the morning...my two sons actually stayed in those comfy chairs just watching until 4:00 a.m. one year! The crew of castmembers told us that once all the crates got back to the warehouse they were all rechecked and any needed repairs made to the decorations over the next few weeks. This whole process was repeated every night, in every resort and every park until all decorations were down.....but I seem to remember everything being pretty much gone before we would leave to come home usually around the 9th.

Down at MK!

Yay - finally! At our house, I'd take the decorations down on Dec. 26 if I could, but my husband and I compromise and they come down Jan. 1. So I didn't love all the Christmas stuff at WDW from Jan 3 through our departure after Marathon Weekend on January 12. At least they took them down in the resorts during the week. We woke up at GF on January 7 and I heard our oldest exclaim, "Yay - the tree is down!!!!" We transferred to Poly that day and they were so excited to see the tree down there too. Poly played a bit more Christmas music (so not Polynesian) but switched to their regular lobby tunes during our stay.

As for the decorations during the marathon, the only remnants that I actually like are the light on the castle in MK. Other than that, would be happy to see the parks cleaned up and in regular form for Marathon Weekend.

Exactly! The "12 Days of Christmas" refers to the 12 days between Dec 25 and Jan 5. THAT is the Christmas season. The month of December is considered Advent, not Christmas.

Personally, it drives me crazy seeing Christmas decorations going up in November and then down before New Years. I wish society would get back in the habit of celebrating Christmas when it is supposed to be!

Our Christmas decorations only came down last week.
