When and where does fantasmic take place?

Fantasmic is usually performed twice a night (9:00 and 10:30, 11:30 if crowds are really really really high) daily (nightly) during Spring Break, summer, and Christmas seasons; weekends the rest of the year. Unlike DHS, there is no official Fantasmic stadium. Instead, the show is right on the Rivers of America in Frontierland.

Thanks for the Info.... I was wondering the same thing. Also, DL veterans, how early do I need to stake out a spot for Fantasmic and where is the best place to watch from?

Where is the best view to watch and how soon should we get there?

Is the 1030 showing easier to get a prime spot?

So from what I'm hearing. When we head there next March from Tues-Friday, 8-11 we won't get to see it because it is only on the weekends? Is this correct??

Weekends at DLR means Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Based on the last two years Fantasmic will show only on Friday night that week.

The 10:30 is definitely easier to get a prime spot. We have done the 10:30 for the last five years. Even with a group of 6 we can usually get a good spot 40 minutes before the 10:30 starts.

IMO the best spot is in the sitting area near the water - especially if you have kids. The view there for youngsters cannot be beat. If you are adults then being in a standing area further back may work better for you.

so be in the area around 945 and as soon as the early show clears out head in for the actual seats?

The first F! showing ends at 9:20 so if you want to be certain then be over by Haunted Mansion at 9:20. When the folks in the first show leave then come and get a seat. We are usually fine with 9:45 on summer nights.

There are no "seats" - unless you count the concrete as seats - or you get a dessert reservation for $60 a person. People with kids often bring a blanket and put it down near the water to reserve their spot and to have a good view of the show.

Oh great then we will get to see it on the Friday. Thanks:woohoo:

My friends and I go to disneyland at least twice a year (we'd go more but we're always busy with school or work!) and we NEVER miss Fantasmic! We've only missed it once because it started raining. But we always sit in front of the Rivers by 6 (3 hours before the 9:00 show). 1 or 2 people will usually save the spot while the others go on rides or get food. We always sit up to the fence and a little bit off center because they tie ropes on the lightpoles in the center to store the strollers. After the show ends, we stay to watch the fireworks and then either go home or go on another ride.

Just my $0.03 (inflation), if you go to the early show and get a spot near the water kinda centered in front of French Market or Cafe Orleans, you can just stay where you are for the fireworks. Some of the low stuff and all of the lighting is lost and Tinkerbell doesn't quite line up but it's still a pretty good view without having to fight the crowd on two separate nights. (You'll never be able to move from one show to the other on the same night and get good seats at both shows.) Some people sit on the terrace at the River Belle but there are only a couple of tables with semi-decent views of the fireworks through the trees.

This works great!

Just thought I'd chime in that if you DO want to have a good spot for both shows, however, you CAN do it by watching fireworks from Main Street (in "just" the right spot) and then the 2nd Fantasmic! show from the riverfront.

If anyone wants details on how to do this so as to get good viewing for both (as some key tips are necessary), post and I'll go into details.

The real secret will be how to see fireworks, Fantasmic and World of Color all in one night! A modification of DangerMouse's legendary DEP/RDCT/F! trifecta. Seeing fireworks and Fantasmic on the same night is not really a "secret" as Dreams will tell you.

The basic idea is that you have to get to the hub early enough (30-45 minutes?) to get a decent spot for the fireworks. If the hub was a clock and the castle at 12:00, you need to be somewhere at around 9:00 towards the entrance to Frontierland. As soon as the fireworks are over, you dash into Frontierland and make your way over to see Fantasmic. There will be CMs there with ropes directing traffic flow, and maybe some doing cleanup after the 9:05 Fantasmic show. Make your way to the Fantasmic viewing area and get a spot. We have gotten good spots down in front using this method but you will be competing with lots of AP holders so it might be harder before the AP blockout that week. In a pinch use the Light Tower Trick - see "Fantasmic Light Tower Trick" by S. S. Columbia www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2225094

FWIW, DangerMouse once mentioned that she sometimes walks through the Plaza Gardens & "Frontierland tunnel" to get to Frontierland and the Fantasmic viewing area (instead of following the crowds directly through the Frontierland entrance).

Here's a link to a google map that shows the path from the hub, through Plaza Gardens, to Fantasmic. You can see that the Carnation Plaza Gardens entrance is in the "10:30 position" in the hub. (I hope the link works.)

You'll want to walk through the "Frontierland tunnel" that's on the left side of this photo:

This is just a tiny tip, but every little bit helps. :goodvibes

Well, it's not a secret so much as a strategy. The entire trick is to be ahead of the massive flow of people attempting to do the exact same thing as you - fireworks from Main Street and then Fantasmic! from the riverfront.

1. Get to Main Street early to get a spot for the fireworks show. You want to get a spot on the left side of Main Street (facing the castle) near the Hub. This is important. It is not the absolute best viewing location (although it is good), but it's a crucial location for you to get to Fantasmic as hassle-free as possible).

2. Watch the fireworks show.

3. The SECOND the show ends (approx 9:45p), you need to walk quickly towards the entrance of Frontierland. There will be 1,000s of people doing the same thing. There will also be 1,000s of people coming out of that area from the 9:00p Fantasmic! show. Keep your group together and just keep walking. (We do a single file, all hold hands line. LOL) Stay to the right as you walk towards the River. It will be VERY crowded.

4. Once you get to the riverfront, other guests will already be there. Kindness to others goes a LONG way. find spot near the center of the island (it'll make sense when you see it). It will probably be about 10:10 - 10:15. Get settled and wait for the 10:30pm Fantasmic!

It's not easy, you have to deal with MAJOR crowd movement, but it's do-able and gives you a great view of both shows. The key is to be in front part of the crowd, so you can get a seat at Fantasmic!, as opposed to those who started further up Main Street.
