When and where do book for 09

I know I know I'm a tad early especially since we are looking at doing Christmas 09 at Universal. Was wondering when I could book and where do you book to get the best rates. We will be doing 2-3 nights at the Nick hotel. I know its horrible there but the kids will be 9, 8, and 7 and they are begging to go and Mommy can't say no. Then I want to do 4-5 nights at RPR club level. Kids get what they want Mommy gets what she wants and Daddy just pays the bill, gotta love my life LOL. Does RPR work on a 12 month prior schedule or will I be able to do it sooner. Also do you book earlier or hold out a bit for a better rate/special.

i can't help you with the nick hotel.
haven't stayed there, only read about it on the boards and by googling it.

you can call and book now but you will be booking at rack rates.
when the rates of aaa/ap/etc come out, you call the hotel back and modify your rate.

what you are doing now is securing a room of your choice and having it held for you.

you pay a one night stay at the time of booking. you will be charged what the going rate is at the time you initially booked.

when you modify your rate, your ressie will be adjusted to that new rate for the room. you will have paid over the amount needed, but that extra can be kept on file and you will get credit for it.

when you check out of the loews hotels, you pay the final bill then for the room.
