We have been to wdw many many times and would like to plan a trip to DL next year. It is only adults and we were thinking of 6 nights at DLH. We have never been so we want to make the most of it. Is that too long? What is a good amount without feeling overly rushed? Also, what time of year is recommended? We would also like some pool time.

I'd that 5-6 days, especially if you are going to spend some pool time, would be great to not feel overly rushed. For what time to go, July might be fun but crowded because of the 60th anniversary, late September to early October is not normally very crowded and they would have the Halloween decorations set up, another time that is good is having your first day at the park be November 1st and that will allow you to see the Halloween decorations on your first day there and then by the time you leave, 5-6 days later you'll have seen the Halloween decorations come down and all of the Christmas decorations will be up except for the IASW decorations.

Welcome!

Here is the short answer: 4 days minimum at the parks and 5 days is better for a first timer.

As for time of year to visit see: "Choosing When To Visit DLR: Summary of High and Low Season and When Each Happens" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=36509602

For the long answer see:
