When am I charged for pre-booked excursions?

This is our first time cruising and I've learned so much from these discussion boards!

I know that I can book my excursions, including reserving snorkel equipment on Castaway Cay, 60 days from my 9-18-04 cruise. My question is: Will my credit card be charged for the excursions NOW or when I arrive at the port to check in?

Your excursions will be charged to your kttw card (key to the world card) it is your room key, your onboard charge card and your safe key. You won't be precharged for excursions they will just go on your "house account". I would seriously hold off on prebooking Castaway Cay stuff though, the floats and snorkle equipment are plentyfull and if it is a nasty day (god forbid) you will still have to pay for your rentals if you prebook.. I learned this the hard way- of course it took me a few times to get it to sink in...

We are on a pretty tight budget and most excursions at St. Thomas and Antigua are out of our price range - I want to get the most for our dollar. We're planning on renting one child and one adult snorkel set at CC and then sharing them. I think we will do one excursion at one of the other ports, then just wander around/window shop at the other.

Espcecially for the children, you can pick up a mask and snorkle for under $10.00 at Walmart or CVS, they will give you the life vest for free at CC and you could just rent fins or go without fins, it would save you a bundle.

Just to add about buying equipment, I never like to use the rental snorkel I know they clean them but it just seems germy to me. Late in the year you can get a pretty good deal on adult stuff to at like a Sports Authority. It will not be top of the line but it will be clean. Then you can use it at the beach in St Thomas too.

We took our own snorkel equipment along. It packed pretty easily in the larger suitcases. Am so glad we did, as the quality of the rentals was not the best. Vests were free at CC.
