Does anyone know whether or not there is space on the Konch Train(?sp) in Key West for a collapsible wheelchair?

How about taking one on the shipwreck snorkeling excursion in Grand Caymen?

DM has trouble walking long distances and is thinking about bringing wheelchair so that she is able to join the rest of the family on shore for fun and shopping!!

I'd call DCL guest services and ask. Get the name of the person. That way, if there is a problem, you can always tell them what "Sam" at guest services told you.

Castaway does supply special wheelchairs that work in the sand!

I would suggest calling the Conch Train office directly so you know the answer for that one would be accurate 1-800-868-7482 as for the Cayman Islands, not sure on that one, but I would think that being that it is a snorkel they may not accomodate wheelchairs, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

NOt sure if this has change, but when we went to GC in June02, my FIL could not tender into GC in his wheelchair. If the person can walk, you might be OK. But any boat excurions I wouldn't think so. Sometimes the transfer from the dock to the boat can be tricky for a person walking.

Provisions are made for collapsible wheelchairs on the Conch (Konk) train - they are very prone to make you as comfortable as possible, but sometimes it may not feel like it - the conch train is a good way to get the real history of Key West and it is so very interesting but not for young children since it is a long ride - anyone interested in pamplets etc on Key West are most welcomed to send for them - there is no cost except the cost of postage and the large manilla envelope - you can drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com -------
Have a great time in my hometown and be careful of the tee shirt shops - they still not playing the game honest.
Always
Shirley
