I'm trying to figure out how to best accommodate my daughter. I've been through all of our options and none seem ideal:
- Pediatric wheelchair: heavy and handlebars are too low for an adult to comfortably push
- Transport chair: no pediatric version available and the seat is too deep for her to sit comfortably; seems like she'll slouch all day
- Special needs stroller: the only one I've found in NY (want to rent one here so I can travel with it) has small wheels (think umbrella stroller). Will that work or be to difficult to push on cobblestones in Magic Kingdom?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

What brand/model? How heavy is the child? We have used a Maclaren Major Elite with an older child and no trouble pushing until she got heavier - so until maybe she 11/12 and she was near 110 lbs at that point. Whatever you use, I recommend it have footrests that fit her so the legs don’t just dangle.

Enjoy your vacation!

This type of extension can be put on most pediatric wheelchair handlebars.

But special needs strollers can work as well - just remember to make sure your child's height and weight are within the manufacturer's recommended range, both for safety and her comfort.

If you rent a pediatric wheelchair, be sure to rent a leg rest that can swing down/out of the way so that her leg can be supported. If her leg starts to swell, or she needs to prop up for a little while in the Parks, remember that First Aid has cots where she can lay down and prop up her leg for a short time.

Does she have a full leg or half leg? My son used a scooter for his half leg.
I would call one of disability rental stores in orlando. They have so many options and may be able to help you more.

My choice would be to rent a special needs stroller when you get to Orlando because there are so many more options that would be a better fit. You can get a courtesy wheelchair in the airport to get him around.

I suspect the special needs stroller is going to be most flexible and comfortable for your daughter. I find that the paving at all the parks is pretty easy with mobility devices and small-wheeled strollers. The trolley tracks may be problematic, but we just pop wheelies over it, to be honest.
