I meant to post this when we got home but I've been so busy I completely forgot.

Our flight was to depart at 8am and our neighbor dropped us off around 530. After a few wrong ways (I hate that airport) we finally got to where we needed to be. I had noted in the reservation that I needed wheelchair assistance to the gate. We were walking toward the Airtran ticket counter when a man asked us if we had paid for our checked bags ahead of time when I replied yes he ushered us right to the ticket counter. We already had our tickets but we needed to figure out which gate and to drop our bag off. I explained to the gentleman that was talking with me that I needed a wheelchair. I turned around to say something to my fiance and turned back around and he was there with one.

After dropping off luggage and finding out the gate we went to security. This is where I was thinking it was going to take a long time and the main reason we got there so early. He however got me to the front of the line and I got my shoes off and my laptop out of the bag. While I was doing all of this and getting through the metal detector (no new machines at these gates but DFW does have them) DF was having issues of his own.

The TSA agent that was standing near us while I was getting all of my stuff onto the belt told DF to do the same and to stay right behind me. Well naturally this meant he had to cut in front of someone and this gentlemen was not happy. He exchanged a few words with DF who just polietly said "Sir, take it up with that man right there" (and pointed to the TSA agent.) Well then the man started to get angry saying that he had been standing there for an hour and DF had no right to cut in front of him. The TSA agent hit a button on his walkie and I'm assuming a gentleman who was a higher up person came over to see what the problem was. He pushed the man's things back and put DF's things through to the belt and told the man "He's in front of you because he's with the lady in the wheelchair". DF got his things off the belt, got his shoes on, helped me, and down to the gate we went.

We timed the whole process from the time we got dropped off until the time we got to the gate and it only took 45 minutes. On our way back to Dallas to get through security it only took 8 minutes. I didn't time the whole process.

Most of what you said (except for rude stranger in line) sounds terrific with security and the airport.

I'm afraid I don't think this is typical for time constraints, but I'm glad it went so quickly for you.

I was honestly very surprised it went so quickly considering it was 2 days before Christmas.
