Okay I have been with my son...he can do a transfer. However this time I am blessed to say I will be bringing my 86 year old grandmother on her 3rd ever WDW vaction :goodvibes . Needless to say she is thrilled. It has been 25 years and she is in for a tret (all the updates and new stuff...esp. AK) I have done some research and rides like Nemo and HM you can actually be in a wheelchair. She can transfer...however it is very difficult and I would like to not do it too much. Here is my question. On these rides (Nemo and HM) will she be in a shell or doombuggy alone...or is there a place for someone else to sit?

As I remember, 1 person can ride with the wheelchair user (maybe 2). My husband is the one who uses the wheelchair, and I don't think we've ever been on a ride where at least one other person can't go on the ride with the chair user. Many of the newer rides are easy access. Somewhere on the Disney site there is a place that tells which rides you don't have to transfer for.

Have fun!

THANKS! Yes I have looked on the site. I was VERY pleased with all the rides. I really did not think there would be that many. :thumbsup2

There is a wheelchair accessible clamshell for Nemo, with room for one wheelchair and one person to sit next to the wheelchair.
Every attraction that has a wheelchair car will have room for at least one person to sit next to the wheelchair.

Haunted Mansion does NOT have a wheelchair accessible doom buggy. They do have an ADA transfer car with a wider opening, which may be where the confusion comes.

I have only a few minutes to reply between things while I am at work, so I am going to suggest you look at the EPCOT FAQs thread near he top of this board for Epcot information. I have not had time to complete it, but it has much more complete information than the general info on the WDW site.

Also, if you go to the disABILITIES FAQs thread, you will find s lot more information. You can find that thread near the top of this board or follow the link n my signature. You will find post 3 helpful and also posts 18-22 on page 2 of that thread. Post 1 has an index that tells which post is about which subject.
