We will be traveling in July with my MIL who has bad asthma and I'm worried about her with all the walking in the heat and humidity. I'm thinking of renting her a scooter or wheelchair but could use some DIS help.

1-How are Disney's wheelchairs, easy to push?

2-How long will the charge on a scooter last?

3-What are the ride rules? Do they fit in the ride lines or is there a seperate entrance?

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #2 covers a lot ob mobility situations.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

But to give specific answers:

1. Disney's wheelchairs are primarily heavy duty and may not be as easy to push as others. Also, unless you are used to pushing a wheelchair you can get very exhausted. And, not noticed by most people, there are hills.

2. Most rental ECVs have sufficient battery power to drive around a person at maximum weight and maximum speed for an entire day without runing out of power. That said, some designed as "transportable" and very low weight do not have anywhere near the battery capacity of a regular ECV.

3. The majority of the lines for attractions are "mainstreamed", so you will take the chair or ECV all the way through the queue to the boarding or seating area. If the line is not fully mainstreamed you will be directed, at the proper time, by either signs or a CM as to where to go.
