Wheelchair experiences on Wishes Cruise?

Can anyone share any experiences of doing a Wishes cruise with a wheelchair? I've gotten different replies from different places regarding accessability, but would really, really like to hear some first-hand experiences from people who have done it.

We are doing the 25-foot pontoon with Audio, and are planning on having to transfer. We'd really like to hear about dock access (we've heard that some of the resorts are better than others with wheelchair access).

Thanks so very much for any insight!

The WL docks are accessible. They will make the boats accessible for you. Last year we went on one and they just docked the boat so DW could get her powerchair on. But if you want to transfer you certainly can. Any other questions ask.

Thanks so much for the info! Does anyone have any info about boarding at the Grand Floridian? We are planning dinner at 1900 Park Fare that night, and would love to hear of any first hand experiences getting on the docks from there.

Thanks so much,

We have not taken a Wishes Cruise, but we have rented a pontoon boat from the Grand Floridian dock. Youngest DD is not able to get out of her wheelchair and we were able to get her wheelchair onto the pontoon boat.

Oh, thank you Sue! Thank you so much!

That makes me feel so better...I've been trying to find that answer for months. This is a very special occasion and we'd do whatever we had to get her in the boat (she's 17 now so that's a bit tougher when we have to transfer) but it's so nice to hear we won't have to worry about it. I'll also be sure to note we have a wheelchair on the ressie.

THANK YOU!

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I got a PM from someone asking me how our experience went, so I thought others might be interested.

It was perfect, they had no problem at all working with us and we didn't have to do anything special. We used the Contemporary marina, and we just listened to the driver as to the best way to get the chair on the boat, and everything went off without a hitch (he actually did it for us).

We were glad we got the slightly larger boat, had more manuverability with the chair so my niece was able to transfer easily to a "regular" seat to and from the chair. The audio was great as well - it was a really magical way to see the fireworks.

Thanks for the report. We don't always find out how things went and it's really nice to know what happened.
