This will be the first time we have needed mobility assistance while visiting WDW. I can arrange for a scooter to be delivered to Boardwalk Villas, so I'm fine with doing that (I think.) I don't, however, know how to arrange wheelchair transportation at the airport in Orlando. Do I do it through my airline or through the airport? We will need to get from our gate to DME and then to do it in reverse on departure. Our home airport is very small and won't be as big a problem, but Orlando airport is more than my husband can handle. I appreciate any help/sugguestions anyone can offer.

Call your airline and have them add that to your reservation, and then politely remind the head airline steward/stewardess before you land that you will need assistance at the airport when you land.

Agree with peemagg.

You will be met at the door to the aircraft with a wheelchair and the person there will take you all the way to baggage claim. Either the person will wait for you and then take you to the bus, or will leave you, still in the chair, at baggage claim.

And on your return it is not necessary to notify them in advance. However, there will be wheelchairs (and pushers) available at the outside baggage check areas who will take you to the gate and temporarily leave you there. Just before boarding starts that same person will return and take you down the ramp to the aircraft door.

And tipping is definitely expected.
