Hi Everyone!

I just booked a 1 bedroom Wheelchair Accessible room at boardwalk villas, garden/pool view for January, MIL is coming and is in a wheel chair,

Does anyone have a pics of these rooms?
MS said the shower was a roll in and that things are lower, I'm assuming she ment light switches?? is there any other difference in the rooms??
Does anyone have the demensions of the room or know where I could find them???

Thanks

Kim

Check the first stickey here, descriptions and photos of accessible rooms. I don't know off the top of my head if it shows any from BWV.

I don't know of any pictures of the Boardwalk Villas accessible rooms, but I can explain.
The wheelchair accessible rooms are the same size and arrangement as the non-accessible rooms. The main difference is in the way things are arranged inside the bathroom. Instead of the shower with a door, they have a roll in shower in that place. The bathroom has a rollunder sink that you can use seated in a wheelchair. It also has a raised seat toilet with grab bars on the wall beside and nehind it.
There will still be a whirlpool tub in the room in the usual spot. The closet is in the same place as the non-accessible room, but has 2 closet rods, one is lower so you can use it from a wheelchair.

The kitchen area also is pretty much the same as a non-accessible room, but the sink is arranged so a wheelchair can go under. There may also be a side by side refrigerator and a front loading stacked washer and dryer rather than the top loading stacked washer in the non-accessible units.
An additional difference in the kitchen is that a shallow snack bar on the living room side of the kitchen is missing (they use the space saved to move the kitchen out a bit to make more room inside).

The light switches are a little lower (most people would probably not notice) and the outlets may be a little higher off the ground so someone in a wheelchair can reach them. There should also be a 2nd 'peephole' in the door so someone in a wheelchair can look out the door to see who is there.
