Wheel Chair Rental

Hi! taking my handicap sister to the world next month and my niece for there first trip! I need to rent a motorized wheel chair for the week. She can walk but not for long periods. Any suggestions on where to call?? I would need it Friday to Friday, dropped off at Caribbean Beach.

Post 2 of the disAbilities FAQ sticky has information about ECV rentals, both preferred vendors and others. Preferred vendors are allowed to utilize WDW Bell Services for drop-off/pick-up. However, other vendors are not necessarily "second rate" and many are still highly recommended by some DISers.

You mention a "motorized wheelchair" -- I'm not sure if you truly mean a wheelchair or an ECV. Most vendors will not rent a chair unless the user uses one regularly at home. Most people who need something for vacation rent an ECV (electronic convenience vehicle) -- a.k.a. a scooter.

My friend who has cancer, and I rented from Apple Scooters on our trip in January, and they were very good. Very prompt with the scooter delivery, and even gave us a replacement key when the original one got lost, for the scooter without any charge. Or, hesitation.

I used the scooter for times when my guy Dan, and I were alone by ourselves with our other friends we were traveling with, and he didn't want to push me in my manual wheelchair. It worked out great. My friend with cancer used it for the times we were altogether as a group.
