We planned this trip rather last minute for us. I made the December Reservations in September.

We are staying at the BC and I was told that all the accessable rooms are booked already.

Is this the norm? Do they run out often? :confused3

We really need the rails around the toilet and the easy to enter shower but it seems that we are not going to be able to do that.

I forgot how many total rooms there are in BC, but the 'formula' for fully wheelchair accessible rooms (the ones with the roll in showers) is only around 1 of those per 100 rooms (the formula is around 4 handicapped rooms per 100, but only one needs to be roll in shower).
If you really want that rresort, you might be able to get on a waiting list.

I asked about a waiting list and Special Services said there was no such thing.

They told me to just keep calling back every day.

I have had to change my plans before due to WDW not having an accessible room at the resort I wanted. During a popular time of year and making a last minute reservation, yes...it happens. You'd be best to choose another resort in advance that will meet your needs. ---Kathy

Shovan. Thanks for the link to that information.

Those diagrams look really different than the rooms that I have seen in the past. I suspect it is because your link is to the Beach Club Villas which is related to but different than the Beach Club.

The rooms I have seen had two queen beds and a day bed (single bed) which is the configuration we need in order for me not to have to sleep with my father. :rotfl: None of the the BCV seem to be set up that way.

We needed a toilet rail when we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge last spring. Again all the "equipped" room were booked so they came in and added an over the commode set of rails. It looked great until my dad tried to use it and discovered that the rails prevented the door to the bathroom from closing. He was too modest to use the restroom with the door open so we ended up removing the added rails.

You are right.
Beach Club and Beach Club Villas are different.
Beach Club is a deluxe resort and does have 2 queen beds and a day bed.
Beach Club Villas is a Disney Vacation Club resort and has several types of rooms. The studios have a kitchenette, a bed and a sofa bed (I think they are all set up like that, not with 2 beds). The one bedrooms have a kitchen, a living room with a sofa bed and a master bedroom with a king size bed. The 2 bedrooms are a one bedroom and a studio put together.

Twende,
Sorry about that! I need to pay closer attention before I try to help out!
I hope you can get a room that works for you! I know how tough it is to find the right set-up that will work for you!

Sue, thanks again for providing the correct info.!!!

Shovan....please do not apoligize. We have always considered renting points and staying at the Beach Club. Now I have a link saved so I will know what the rooms are like! Thanks again! :thumbsup2

Oh, thanks. I'm glad I could help even if I goofed! :goodvibes

We're recent DVC owners, but this last trip we actually rented the points from someone we found online! I was very nervous about trying this, but it worked out great. He didn't ask for any money up front, we didn't pay him until right before we left for the trip. We had the confirmation from Disney in our hands before any money exchanged hands. My DH & the guy are sort of email buddies now!

Worked out great for us! Good Luck! :wave2:
