Day 3 (August 25)
I am up again before the wake up call and take my coffee out to the balcony. Today I dont take my book, I just sit and enjoy the quiet and atmosphere. Mickey calls at 7am, Nick answers and they are "up and at 'em" with minimal complaining. We are going to EE at MK today.
We get to MK about 8:15, not bad. We got to Fantasyland and ride Peter Pan,Snow White, Dumbo, Tea Cups with no waits. The boys tell me they wont spin the Tea Cups and then take turns spinning it around as quickly as possible. It is funny and we are laughing. We skip Pooh because Dan and Nick have done it once and are boycotting because they liked Mr Toad better. We head over to Tomorrowland to get fastpasses for Space Mtn, there is no line. Dan and I go in, I am having second thoughts, I am not a roller coaster fan and actually havent been on one since I was 17. I chicken out, Dan rides. When he comes out it tells me it is "lame" and I could handle it, still no lines so we go back in and I ride. It is fast and very rough, I am jiggling all over but I am not scared . I didnt like it because I was tossed all around but it wasnt sacry. We ride TTA, it is hot on the ride, the tunnel that is usually so cool is very warm, wheres the air? We get a fastpass for Buzz, look for someplace to eat, no place is open near us for sandwiches. We dont eat meat and all we can find is burgers at this point. settle on just drinks, do Buzz. Walk to Frontierland, stopping to do Aladdin on the way- no wait. Then we stop and get some fries, We dont want to eat alot since we have PS at Chefs de France for a late lunch. We go to Haunted Mansion and walk on. At this point I am so sick of crying kids--- why do people take their kids on rides when they are crying BEFROE it even start? Everything we have done except for SM has had crying, screaming kids. I am glad I have teenagers, (although I would not take a screaming kid on a ride). Anyway, the CM's at HM were great, really into their roles, made it so much fun, even with the chorus of crying pre schoolers. Did TTA again. By now it is very crowded in MK, there is a wait for Jungle Cruise and POC, we decide to leave and come back again. It seems more crowded that last year and then I remember that last year we went the day after EE and it was less crowded. I would do that again (if this werent our last trip
).
Back to the YC, rest for a minute, get cleaned up and off to EPCOT via boat. The boat driver was yelling for people to sit 4 across the rows, it is very crowded that way, my kids are thin, the other woman sitting with us is thin (ok, I am not so very thin) and we are uncomfortable. The boat driver is a grouch. Nick asks if there is a happy strike because she is so mean. (grouchy cast memeber #2). We get to Chef's de France, and are seated. Dan gets onion soup, salmon with fennel and artichokes. Nick and I decide to split the meal because neither of us are that hungry. We order tomatoes with field greens with warm goat cheese and chicken with puree of potato and pesto. The food is very good. Nick starts telling stories during lunch and he is soo funny! I never realized how funny he can be. I have tears runing down my face from laughing, the waiter looks at us like we are nuts. Nick stops for awhile and then starts up again. I am afraid to drink anything, I am afraid that it will come out of my nose. We have dessert, Nick and I split the apple tart with ice cream and Dan gets chocolate mouse with vanilla sauce. They are fabulous. I use our lunch vouchers from Connections and save about 12$. It was a great meal and a lot of fun and NO screaming kids.
We walk around WS, they go to Japan (AGAIN) and I go with them. We watch the Japanese woman make candies out of sugar. They are amazing. My boys would like one, but they realize she is choosing little kids not big teenagers. We decide to go back to the YC because we are full and it is very hot. We walk to the boat, the rope is across the entrance and the exit and there is a boat there. I call to the mean boat driver, asking if we can get on. She ignores me. I am flabergasted, she has to see us standing there and she must hear us. A CM walking by calls to her, she remarks something about taking reservations. I am confused. The other CM walks over to her, they talk for one second and he takes the rope down and tells us to go ahead. The Capt was just being a jerk and we dont like her (grouchy CM #2&3).
Dan wants to call his girl friend so Nick and I sit out on one of the rockers, it is peaceful. we rest for awhile and Dan decides to go to DTD, Nick and I are going to MGM and we will meet at 7pm at the fountain by the Muppets. we take the boat to MGM and have great CM.s (Ed and Bill) they are friendly and nice. Ed is passing out Mickey stickers to the kids and gives one to Nick. he puts it on his shirt and wears it for the rest of the night, then puts it on his camera case. At MGM we go on Star Tours, and the see the Muppets again. we go into the store witht he Muppett merchnadise and Nick buys a couple little things, the CMs here are very nice as well. I am relieved because of the Grouches from earlier. We walk around for awhile, Nick gets a smoothie. At 7 we go back and wait for dan, at 7:45 it is starting to sprinkle and still no Dan. we decide to go back to the YC. We have thesame nice CMs on the boat back. In the room there is a message from dan, he got there late and will come right back. He does and tells us that the mice CM in the Muppet store called the hotel for him so he could leave a message for us. The rain has stopped and we go to the pool. They take me on a tour of the pool, showing me the waterfalls, bubbling pools and save the whirling part for last. It is great. We float and twirl and twirl and twirl, There are the three of us, a middle age man and his kids. We all whirl and whirl. Can life be better???? After swimming for an hour or so, Nick and I walk to the Boardwalk to get pizza from Spoodles pizza window. Since last year, Nick has looked forward to this. We get a couple of slices, the nice CM puts in a box and we walk back. It is a beautiful night, the sky is clear now and it is just beautiful.
We go back to the room, Nick finishes the pizza and I fall asleep about midnight to the sound of my kids laughing and talking.
