How often do you use your DVC points for DVC resorts, collections, passport locations, etc? How many trips per year do you take on your points?

In general, I'd say it is safe to say we average 2 trips/year on DVC points. Last year was an outlier with 4: 3 weekends at the Grand Cal and Thanksgiving week at Manhattan Club (Concierge Collection).

Edited to add: Presently checking in from "home" at BWV :D

We've bought just few enough points to do a trip every other year. But we've done some short trips the first few, so we've managed to go each year until now. Next year we're off, but we've paid cash for a cruise to get our Disney fix. :)

Typically 2 or 3 - WDW or DL

2013 - Did BLT in March, VGC in August, BWV in November
2014 - Have VGF in May, BWV in October

I usually work with AP's to decide where to go. I had a DL AP from the year before that expired last September, so I had the August trip for D23. Then I activated the DVC PAP in November, so I planned WDW trips this year. Will probably do DL next year in May.

We only use our points to stay at DVC resorts. In 2013 we spent 31 days at WDW over 4 trips and 6 different resorts.

Since 3 of our trips were in Jan, Sept and the 1st week of Dec and that being lowest point times for DVC we managed to get pretty good bang for our buck pointwise. The additional trip was in May which is still not a high point time.

This year it looks like we may only get 2 or 3 trips in. I really do like having points left over to bank. ;)

I'm a pretty new owner (since April 2013), but my plan is to do two trips every year to DVC resorts only. I have 2 confirmed trips for 2014 (May, October) with a possible third in December.

We have 2contracts-AKV and GCV. We typically do two trips per year-one trip on each coast.

We live in Fl and only 1.5 hours from Disney so we generally take lots of short trips(never more than 3 nights and the average is 2 nights). In the past year we spent 11 nights but generally it is closer to 14 (we did a night in a 2 bedroom to use up points when we had to cancel a vacation after our banking deadline. For the 2 of us we generally stay in a studio but brought friends along for the night instead of it being just us.

Most trips in one 12 month period. 11 (1 DCL and 10 DVCs from 1 to 5 days)
20 years DVC Member:
20 years * an average of 7 stays per year = 140 vacations that I would not of had but for DVC.
Want to get to a point where I am staying every month from 2 - 5 days.

We are now visiting WDW twice a year, during the summer and winter, and using all of our points for booking. Moreover, only one of our stays has been booked through the Disney Collection, because of a reservation issue.

Use points for DVC resorts. Although we did three exchanges to Disney resorts very early on - once for Grand Californian concierge before the DVC built there, once at AKL concierge before DVC built there and once at YC because I had a business need to be at WDW and points that we had to burn.

We have a pattern of annual DVC trips to WDW in January, May/October, June, September and December. Every other year we go to DL and VGC. These trips are generally 3, 4 or 7 nights depending on the time of year and resort.

Living near MCO gives us the opportunity to enjoy many visits for concerts, movies at fork and screen and other events.

Just one. Which strange, Before becoming a member and Disney resorts cost were a little more bearable and of course the ticket cost made more since we were going 2 to as many as 4 times a year .Disney played a big trick on everyone when they changed the tickets and how they work a few years back . LOVE my DVC and Disney as a whole but cannot afford to go as much now because of cost .

We have 320 points spread out over 3 resorts and only use them at DVC resorts both in FL and in CA. We average about 2 a year.

2013 we did 3 but that was an anomaly. 2014 will be 2. 2015 may be just 1.

We only stay at DVC resorts, in the beginning 3 times per year, then 2 times a year, now 1 or 2 times per year and for the first time, we are going to skip a year.

The number of total days per year have ranged from 7 to 35.

Two or three trips using points/year for DH & me. Have been fortunate to be able to grab last minute reservations @ DL in the past.

We do seem to average gifting a trip to adult children every two years or so;) which is shorting us on points for this summer. Have our 1st trip to POP is scheduled for May, but considering renting points from MS/borrowing if the right room opens up for our dates.

Only DVC resorts (and usually OKW because it's our favorite). Maybe two trips a year, one shorter (just a couple of nights) combined with a trip to the beach and our other timeshare. The other, longer 7-10 nights.

We generally go once a year - we travel from Oregon so shorter trips aren't worth it. We own enough at BCV and now VGF to stay one week in a one bedroom and just alternate resorts. This year will be an outlier - we went this past October for food and wine AND are going again in April/May 2014.

Also, we try to time it to use the annual pass twice i.e. go at the end of october for F&W and then the next year go in early October.

In terms of trading out to passport/collections/RCI whatever, we just don't feel its a good use of our points so we keep the DVC points to use at Disney DVC resorts.

Once a year, only to DVC resorts. There was a period of time when I/we did two shorter trips per year, but with the increase in airfare, and the aging/passing of my parents, we only make one trip a year. We have also learned the priceless value of one trip every 2 or 3 years with all our adult children.

We will be moving to FL, so our usage will change!

For 7 years we had travelled for Flower and Garden, in summer, in fall, and in December. For the last 3 years, we added a January stay. We have been members for 10 years!

We have 3 contracts at SSR and 1 at HHI which enable us to make 4 - 5 trips to WDW each year from NY. Members for 9 years and we have only used points for DVC stays and 1 member cruise. Each trip is usually for 4 - 6 nights, we like to call them long weekends. We've stayed at every DVC resort in WDW except VGF (like we'll ever be able to find availability there) and love them all. Trips are in Jan, May, Sep, Oct, and Dec. Leaving for SSR this Tuesday for 6 nights!
