What's your suggestion for future member events?

Not necessarily looking for freebie events, but I just wanted to know what kind of ideas we could come up with for future member events. List your idea and what you think would be a fair price.

My suggestion would be DVC only e-nights. In addition to the regular MK attractions, as a special perk, Fanasyland could be open too. This would be exactly like the current e-nights but just for DVCers.

Cost: $15

I think a member event that featured an "e-night" in each of the parks only for DVC members would be great. I would make it so members could choose to do 1,2,3, or all 4. THat way, the price would be figured on how many events you actually chose to do.

Its not really an event, but I do think it'd be cool if they had DVC lounges in the parks.

Or how about DVC entrence lines during the rush hour into parks?

I'd be happy with member day, but I wish it went all year round like once or twice a month instead of weekly just during the summer.

Illuminations Dessert party- $25 - $30

I like all of these ideas, and what I like most is that they are AFFORDABLE. The events this Spring seem ludicrous to me -- talk about price gounging! As someone posted on another thread, for a few bucks more his family could take a short Disney cruise!

I like the idea of Disney getting us members together in ways that don't empty our pockets. These would seem like an opportunity for us to have fun, instead of just another opportunity for the company to make money OFF us!

Just my 2 cents (and that's all I'd have left if I attended in May!)

I'd like something simpler and less expensive that took place at one or more predictable times each year so that people who only go to WDW every year or two can plan ahead. DVC members take their 11-month window pretty seriously, and I think that Disney should as well.

rocketriter--

You touch on the thing I find most irritating about this. I already have plans - HUGE plans - for Dec 04 with extended family using most of my available points.

Had we known about this event earlier, like when people start thinking 11 month window, I would possibly been able to make it work.

But maybe that's DVC's planning all along. With 70,000+ families as members, and only 4000 tickets to sell, they control their numbers.

It's still disappointing.

I agree with Zulaya... more notice would be wonderful.

Enights good...

Love the IllmNations desert party idea!

I love all the things offered in May, and would love to see things more things like the after hours party for DVC

Member Cruise... love the idea, would love to know there will be one every year....

We stayed at Fort Wilderness in one of the cabins in June 2002 & went to the Mickey's Backyard BBQ. It is a seasonal dinner show that the Birnbaum Guide says they would call their favorite dinner show if it was offered year round. It could be like a DVC family reunion.

The plus to this I would like to see is that the location is directly adjancet to the now closed, but I beleive still there River Country, which could be opened to DVC memebers only for special event. Something like this that is not open to the public & very unique.

I would agree with rocketriter- and expand- say have a trial monthly DVC special event for a reasonable fee- not this grandiose overpriced SSR promo- what was the point in including 2 day park pass when most people will have an Ap or park hopper anyway?

Special viewing of the fireworks - MK, Epcot and Studios

A lounge would be great!!!!

I still want a discount on the annual passes....but I don't think that is going to happen.

How about an appetizer type buffet or a dessert buffet at one of the quiet pools? Close down a DVC quiet pool for the evening or a few hours and let the DVC'rs mill around talking to each other? No park fees and no one who is not a DVC'r allowed?

Not that we'd have gone, but looking at the program it occurred to me that we couldn't have done any of the events anyway. We travel with little kids and events happening at 8:30 at night aren't happening for our family.

I'd like to see some special EE mornings - particularly at MK as part of the member events for those of us with little kids. Maybe an early morning Safari. Or a character lunch at Spoodles. A DVC day at BB or TL the day before they officially open to the public after maintenance each year.

It seems that there are two different sets of event-types mentioned here: Resort-based and Park-based. DW and I are DINKS (well, our son graduated college and is on his own) and, while it is nice to sit around and meet other DVCers, we're a lot more interested in the Park-based choices. I like the 'type' of events that the MH had: enights, illum. desserts; but I'd prefer them to be independent (single event), regularly scheduled (like MNSSHP , MVMCP, Food/Wine and Flower) and cheaper - the DVC Morning is an interesting idea. We'd be a lot less interested in the DVC Resort-type barbeque / buffet - we can do that kind of thing around the house. Note, though, that we're new to DVC; I bet that, 10 years from now, when our Space Mtn trips number in the high 3 figures, we'll be more interested in beer and ribs by High Rock Spring....

I like the idea of a regular event for DVC members that would take place on a semi regular basis. When they had the picnics this summer, it was a good start at that. I would like to see a member day maybe once a month. If it was alway on , say the 15th or something like that, folks could plan at the 11 month window. I think meeting other DVC members all in one place and enjoying the same event sounds like fun, but it shouldn't be something that requrires a specific trip and time frame to do. Everyone should know that on a specific day of each month, there will be a members event.
