I'm from MA, so we've had quite a few great sporting moments in just the past 25 years. The Pats first SB win. 28-3. Malcolm Butler interception. The Sox coming back from a 3 game deficit to beat the Yankees in the ALCS. The Red Sox scoring 10 runs in the first inning before an out was recorded against the Marlins in 2003.

The 1989 World Series, Oakland A's versus the San Francisco Giants. Interrupted by the Loma Prieta earthquake, 6.9.
The earthquake transformed it from a sporting event to a community rescue operationg.

Probably depends on who you ask, and especially the ground rules. Like - does it have to take place in the state - at least partially? That might rule out some Super Bowls.

Maybe not the greatest, but one that captures the national imagination.

I guess that would subject to interpretation.

I would imagine it might be the small town Milan winning a state basketball championship that inspired the movie Hoosiers. The Colts winning a Super Bowl would be another candidate and is probably the "biggest deal" so to speak.

In my old state, probably the Cubs winning a World Series, ending a drought of over 100 years.

I live in Georgia, Athens to be exact. Back to back National Championships for UGA. (go dawgs, it's legally required).

For my home state of New Jersey, Nov 6, 1869 was the first ever college football game. Precursor to the entire NCAA and NFL.

For Michigan, it was probably Joe Louis becoming world heavyweight champ in 1937.
