What's your pet peeve?

We all have them!
My DH's pet peeve is when we are walking through the parks like on mainstreet or somewhere and the people in front of us just stop. You know the kind of sudden stop where you almost crash into them. Especially when it's over something like stopping to tie a shoe or look at a map. We always move over to the side to do those things.

Mine is when we've been sitting for almost an hour to get the perfect parade viewing spot and someone comes up behind us at the last minute and shoves their child through the crowd and tells them to stand right in front of us so he/she can see. Now there have been plenty of times when I'll ask a small child behind us if they want to come sit/stand with my kids so they can see better. But please don't just shove them foward and assume it's okay with everyone else who's been waiting.
Like I said these are merely pet peeves. Nothing major that I would even say anything to the person about. Just minor little annoyances that are par for the course but sometimes it's nice to vent anyways! :goodvibes

When I'm struggling to come up with the money to go to Disney, and there's a pincode going out to certain people that saves them hundreds of dollars, and I'm tough out of luck.

how some seem to think they are "special" and need to have the best seat, the first place in line, deserve to push people off the walk with what ever stroller/ vehicle they have ect. it 's not llike they can't enjoy it along with the other 99,999,999 other people there!

and how these types of threads always seem to end up with an argument( ;))

When we are leaving space between us and the people in front of us, so we don't bump them if they suddenly stop, and someone else just cuts us off because there is a small space.

When people call Fastpass:
fastrack
fastrek
fastlane
carpool lane
quick line
fast frolic fantastic line
:badpc:

Or when they think that Universal rides are in Disney and the other way around. I dont have anything against Universal or IOA in fact I enjoy those parks as well. But honestly, do you think that Dumbo is at IOA??? Nah. The hulk is definatly in the Magic Kingdom though....

what? You havent seen it?

My pet peeve is seeing "some" workers, especially ones that interact with people (not the actors/actresses) act grumpy and could care less about there job, they seem like they have an attitude.
Also when people have there babies crying the whole time during philarmagic, or any other indoor attraction where a lot of people sit next to each other..I truly feel sorry for the baby, but the parents should atleast get up and leave if possible, b/c hearing a crying baby the WHOLE time right behind you is very distracting, when you are trying to follow along.

How about guests who refuse to read the map the park has kindly made available and ask where everything is... ... (yes, I'm an ex-CM)

funny you mention that..we had atleast 2 or 3 people ask us where things were ..such as one asking where was frontierland, even though ive been to the MK 4 times I couldnt tell her, b/c I didnt even know where it was. Thats pretty bad.

I agree with most posts so far - the sudden stops, crying babies etc. My pet peeve to add to the list is people who walk on the wrong side of the "street." People should walk on the right, just like you drive on the right. If all the people I saw doing this were not Americans, I could understand. But from what I can tell, most live here and should be able to figure that out.

I have a couple.

One is when people walk SO SLOW. now, i know, its not that they are doing anything wrong, its their vacation, they want to stroll along ,of course. But being from NYC i have learned since iw as little to walk fast and weave in and out of people (comes in great handy when the park is crowded) and i get annoyed fast if theres some people in front of me, say walking from the parking lot, and they are strolling to the gates and i cant get around them... aaargh!

Another is something ive seen on other posts and definately agree with... when you arrive to a parade early, and then the family that comes 5 min before shoves you aside because you should apparently give up your seat for their children. Excuse me, i didnt know there was an age limit for being able to sit on the curb. And im only 18 and apparently im too old!!! 5 or 50, everyone enjoys parades and if i made it a point to get their early, i dont see why they need to shove me around. If they asked id totally give my seat up for a little kid, but they dont, they just constantly elbow you.

and lastly, people who get in line and then ask a good 10 to 15 minutes later "what is this line for?"

When you are waiting to go on the busses from your hotel, the minute a bus pulls up everyone crowds around the door so they can get on and get a good seat. People need to respect that others were there before them and wait their turn!!!!!!!

I'll do your husband one better! I hate when those same stop-shorters come home and get on the DIS and complain about all the people crashing into them or running over their ankles with strollers......Idiots!

The Disney parade SWAT team. They just swoop in from out of nowhere to yell at you. I know, I know, why am I an idiot for getting in the way? However, once I was crossing in front of Main Street Station, and there was no parade in sight, no music, nothing (except the rope, but there was a gap in the rope), and this guy comes from out of the ether and yells at me to get out of the way. Then he disappears into thin air. For a CM to yell at you at Disney is unthinkable!

How about the people who seem to think that lines move faster if people are jam-packed together like sardines? They give you no personal space at all, or even try to pass or stand next to you. Do they really think they'll lose their place if there is a gap of more than 6 inches anywhere in the line?

Sometimes I know it's cultural, but this guy was definitely American: We were in line for Kilimanjaro Safari, the type of line that stands perfectly still for several minutes, then moves quickly ahead. My 2yo was playing with the park map, unfolding it and laying it on the ground to look at. So when the line started to move, dh and dd8 would move ahead, while it would take me a couple of seconds to pick up the map and get dd2 walking again. Some idiot behind us kept walking past us as we did so, putting himself between us and the other half of our family. Each time, we'd walk past him again to catch up. Did this guy really not notice that there were still a bunch of people ahead of us in line and that he wasn't going to miss the safari truck if he had to hesitate 3 seconds before moving forward?

I hear you all on the parade issue. I get to them about an hour ahead to get a good spot, with food and drink, and by the time it starts, I'm no longer in front. I even had one lady come up about 5 minutes or so before a parade started demanding that I move so her and her kid could sit where I was. When it didn't happen she first went and tried to get a CM to move me and when that didn't happen she yelled at me saying that I ruined her whole trip and stomped off. It wasn't even the case where she wanted me to move over, since there was no space to do that either. I guess she decided that she deserved that spot regardless of who was already sitting there.

I just now saw another thread, a huge one I might add, about pet peeves. I guess we have alot of pet peeves we like to vent about! :) One thing I noticed is that it's all similiar stuff and it all basically boils down to a matter of common courtesy and being aware of others around you.

One thing that really bothers me about some of the people out there that are doing these less-than-polite things is that when they act like that with their kids watching it's like they are teaching a whole new generation that's it's okay to do these things.

I don't know. I guess that's my biggest pet peeve of all....the fact that some people just don't realize what message they are sending their children. Oh well. What can you do?! :confused3

We just got back, and our number one peeve is the people that stop in the middle of the walkway. Especially with strollers. Sorry, but they are so clueless and really irritate a lot of people. Sometimes we almost tripped or hit them - yikes! The other is parents who do not realize their kids are tired and need a break. I feel sorry for the crying kids. It's just not fair :guilty:

hi
only one pet peeve but it ruined our mnnshp. a photograper who thought it was clever to be nasty to a brit. he told us we would not be so smug now about terrorist bombings as we came from london. i don,t think anyone from the u.k. had anything but profound sympathy and heartache during your terrible terrorist attack

yours and your husbands work well for me.....it never fails about the parade one...
in July we were standing near a group of people who had clearly staked out their location carefully and early......actually we were behind the group next to them (we walked up and stood behind the front line about 10 minutes before the parade)...
just as the parade was about to start, these real trashy sorts pushed their grandma in a wheelchair into the middle of this family....they said, after all, she's in a wheelchair and needs to be in the front......ok...but why didn't they do that earlier....but then they did what my husband knew they were going to do the moment he laid eyes on them.....the entire extended group of about 8 people pushed in front of this other family...after all, they wanted to be near grandma (no little kids...this was a group of people in their 20's, 50's and granny).....
i felt so badly for the original group...but clearly they were intimidated by this very trashy group of people that had taken over their spot....we were off to the side observing it all....but this is just a particularly obnoxious example of what happens all the time....
people coming up at the last minute and for some reason assuming they have the right to be in the front....

as for people stopping in front of you...
a classic one happened also on the july trip....i was walking into the women's restroom....a mother and daughter stopped suddenly right in front of me as we entered the doorway, completely blocking the entry.....the daughter, who was about 6 years old or so, had picked that exact spot to bend over and tie her shoes....which she wasn't very adept at doing......it took her quite a while and the whole time i, and the line that had formed behind me were waiting to get into the bathroom .......and there was no line at all in the bathroom - just this mother and daughter blocking the entry...
i just kept thinking to myself what a stupid mother that she doesn't say to her daughter, "sweetheart, we shoudlnt' block everyone, you can tie your shoe off ot the side"....but no....she never did and let her child continue to tie.....it was mind boggling....i almost took off my watch to time the whole thing....but by the time i got past the dynamic duo, my daughter (who had made it in before them) was already on her way out of the bathroom, having even had time to wash her hands....why do people think the world revolves around them and they can just stop and not consider that they might be blocking other people (and in this particular location, those people might be particularly desperate to get past)...
