What's your opinion on the value hotels?

Do you think a bunch of young adults (19-26) will have a fun time at one of those? Are there other young adults (our age) there too, or is it all just mom and dad with the kids?

We enjoy the values, I'm 19 and DBF is 20. We have seen more than just the families with young kids. We are staying at ASSp in August. We also take into consideration how much time we actually spend at the hotel. Since we are not there much, why pay more money for a moderate or deluxe when we are only in the room to sleep?

I know several young couples (ages 19-25) that have stayed at the Value Resorts with great success. None of these couples had children and they were happy with the resorts (All Star Movies and POP), enjoyed the pools, and were OK with the food courts. There will be plenty of families but that is true of any Disney resort.

Have a fun trip!

I would think so. I mean, what's not to love? You're in Disney World for goodness sakes! :cool1:

Thanks for the help!!

I'm just extremely close-minded when it comes to these things! I just thought, with all the cartoonish looks (hey, I'm a huge fan of Disney.. I'm just with a bunch of people who don't like the vacation idea as much as me), it would be kid paradise!

We would probably get 7 days 6 nights (5 days at disney world) and on those two days we would relax. Which, that's why I brought up the kids. I don't think we would want to be at the pool with all kids! But, I guess it's not like that.. thanks again!

I saw a LOT of young adults at the All-Stars. It isn't so much kiddie, as it is DISNEY-ish. You'll love it!

There are alot of kids everywhere! Doesn't really matter which resorts you stay at. Me and DBF are both in our 20s and stay in values. Just can't justify the extra costs of moving up. Last year we stayed at Pop in September and our room was quiet and the pools were busy but definately not overrun.

Alright, turns out we're going to go to the Pop Century here in a month (in 16 days I'm leaving to first trip!).. now I just have a few questions!

1.) What's your idea in purchasing the room online from disneyworld.disney.go.com? Has anyone done it here?
- Is it safe?
- Is it reliable?

2.) You know when it asks you for insurance, at the bottom it tells you the "Grand Total".. is it really the Grand Total, or did they not include tax?

3.) How far away is it from Animal Kingdom if you drive from your car?

4.) Are we aloud to visit other hotels (kind of like window shopping) or go swimming in their pools. For example, we can just drive to the Polynesian and go swim in their pool:rotfl2:

EDIT: Also, do they have any specials for Florida residents?

Dengar,

I think you'll enjoy POP. I've stayed at deluxe, mod, value and downtown. There are people of ALL ages anywhere you go.

To answer some of your previous ??'s, Yes you can go visit any resort you like. You can eat at any resort restaurant, cafe, food court. You may NOT swim in any other resort pool. There is more than one pool option at POP, you could ask for a room close to one of the non-main pools; usually not as crowded. (exceptions are only made when there is maintenance being done at your reserved resort).

I haven't made reservations at Disney.com, but I have made them on this very website twice with excellent results. You can get an estimate before confirming a reservation.

AK from POP shouldn't be more than 10/12 minutes from a car. If you plan on going on Expedition Everest make sure you are there 20 minutes before official opening and ride first thing. Fastpasses go fast for this ride. IT IS AWESOME;) :) :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful vacation:cheer2:

I must admit, I always had a slightly low opinion of the values, but last summer due to money issues it was either POP or no DIsney at all, of course I agreed to go to POP. We loved it, the themeing was great, I didn't find the rooms to be a problem (some complain of small sizes). The only thing was that there isn't a table service restaurant there which we quite like to have, but I would definitely stay there again.

Well, that's good to hear! That's the way I see it.. but, after looking at all the pictures and everyones story, it really seems like a fun place. I'm really glad everyone helped out, or we would only be at Disney for like 3 days!:woohoo:

My brother and his wife (25 and 23) honeymooned at ASSports in 2004. They have stayed there 2 more times since then. They like it.

On all but one of my trips to WDW, I've stayed at one of the All Stars, and I love them! They have such fun themes, and I always get distracted in the lobbies looking at all the pictures of famous actors or musicians. I think the rooms are pretty much what you'd find at many normal hotels, size-wise, but they have that extra Disney flair. I hope you have a great time on your trip!! :goodvibes

My husband (32) and I (27), (childless), stayed at Pop Century a couple weeks ago. We were pleasantly surprised to see many young couples there. My husband said he saw more couples, then families with kids!

We really loved Pop Century and would probably stay there again. :)

You will have a GREAT time, save a ton, and enjoy them. My wife, daughter and I stayed at Movies this past April. Loved the place as well as the themes. We are going again in August, staying at CBR which is a moderate, but frankly, would stay at a value again if it was not for the free dining.

We look at it this say. We go to DW to enjoy the parks and attractions. We "sleep" at the hotel...why spend a fortune? Besides, even if you are into the pools, which we did do with our daughter, they have GREAT pools at them as well.

So yeah, my opinion is they are a fantastic value.

That is exactly why we just switched from WL to POP. I just could not justify spending the $2600 extra for WL when we really enjoyed POP last fall. We might save WL for a special occasion. Lots of young folks around. You will enjoy it.

Yep, yep and yep. :) We have CBR booked for our August trip, but ONLY due to free dining. (Saving quite a bit there but figured what the heck). We are already planning on POP or Movies again for next April\May. Besides, DD is already asking if she is going to get to go in the Fantasia pool again, LOL.

Same here on the WL and AKL as well. Really want to stay there once, but think we are going to save it for a special occasion. I always go back to thinking what else we could do with all that extra "hotel room" money! :cool1:

When I booked, I got all the information at disneyworld.com and then called to book over the phone (wanted to ask if there were any discount codes - there was one which saved us $100). The total amount did include taxes.

My mom was highly opposed to the values ever since they opened, she was a total disney value snob :snooty: and refused to stay there. In 2002, she booked ASmo, but a month before our trip... upgraded to the CBR.

In 2007, we had our first ever stay at Pop Century. Boy were we surprised! I think she was already on cloud 9 because she wasn't paying for the trip (have to love men  ) but she kept raving about how the values were above and beyond what she had read in past years.

Surprise 1) Room
People said it was so small... but we didn't find that to be the case at all. Yes.. it is a tight fit for a family, but any room is going to feel that way compared to home. We were able to sleep 3 people (1 in a pack and play) comfortably and the room still felt pretty spacious. It's no villa, but was plenty for our needs. We enjoyed the decor as well... not as "tacky" as we were expecting it to be. We had perfect housekeeping... including towel animals! For the time you really spend there... what else could you need?

Surprise 2) Transportation
Never once did we have an issue with Disney transportation. ME dropped us off first and picked us up last. I don't think I waited more than 10mins for a bus, and while lines at park closing were long, there was always a bus loading and sometimes 2 at a time.

Surprise 3) The "type of people"
For some reason... people just assume those who stay at values are "lower class" families, with rude, obnoxious behavior  I did it at one time too... I will admit it. We never experienced any of this behavior! It gets tough when you cram that many people into that small of a space... but we really enjoyed our fellow resort guests; no rowdy neighbors, no rude drunks, and no cursing teens. The kids scream just as loud as they do at the Grand Floridian...

Overall, our trip really opened our eyes to the value resorts and we finally accepted them. I wasn't overly happy with Pop (just too big for the space) and am looking forward to my stay at ASmu this Sept. Either way... values are now a-ok in my book.

As other posters have said... still looking forward to a stay at the WL, YC, or CR... but those are reserved for special occassions at the moment. I truly can't justify spending that much money on a room for the time we would really spend there.
