Since the "First Class" thread is still going, I thought I'd ask

Oh, rats - I knew I forgot an option! Note to self: consult with Scrubba prior to creating future polls!Funny poll...but I LOVE polls!!
If everyone reclines, then it's the same amount of space. Right?I say recline!

Just so you know - your seatback actually isn't at a 90º angle to the floor (i.e. perpendicular, i.e. straight up). It already leans back - more than your kitchen or dining chairs, for sure, and if you have a job where you're seated all day, most likely more than the chair in which you work. The seats are made to recline. Why shouldnt you recline. I dont recline more that a tiny bit just to make it so I am not straight up. My back couldnt take sitting straight up.

<--------- that dude is such a trouble maker!
I hate it when the person in front of me reclines. There is so little room on most planes already, that it truly intrudes on my space. If I then reclined, I'd be doing the same thing to the person behind me - a vicious circle.
Now I'm not saying I blame anyone who choses to recline. I blame the airlines themselves for trying to cram us in like sardines. I realize they're trying to maximize profits, but it shouldn't be done at the expense of client comfort, IMHO.

Sure, but sometimes that isn't an option. Some airlines don't have any seats with extra legroom. And sometimes those 'extra legroom' seats are the exit row seats, which won't allow certain passengers to sit in...so if my 6'4" dh wouldn't have been able to take those exit row seats, with the extra leg room, when he was flying with dd when she was 10.If you want more legroom pay for a seat with it.

It isn't anyone's 'right' to recline. It is an option. If it were a 'right', there would be compensation of sorts if the seat you paid for didn't recline, and you wanted to. It would be like paying for that extra leg room only to find that your seat didn't really offer extra legroom for some reason.
It's time for all parties to just try and get along...try to see things from other points of view. One person's wants/needs shouldn't negatively impact someone else. What is so hard about looking around to be sure you aren't disturbing someone else? What is so hard about allowing someone to recline a bit to be more comfy???
