I have been doing great with my eating and I'm feeling energetic again....just have to get my routines in order and I'll be accomplishing so much! (Anyone else here do FLYLADY too?)

Anyway, I believe its time for me to get exercising again. I have a Nordic Track, some hand weights, some elastic thingies that dh wanted because he had used them when he was taking tkd classes. Oh, and i have one of those huge balls somewhere...the inflatable kind...I used it as a birth ball when I had dd 3 years ago, but its really an exercise thing. My physical activity history is mainly in dance....I did ballet for years as a kid, did step aerobics for a long time when that first came out...I'm not really a sports person (unless one considers stage diving a sport....I did that for a while years ago...) In recent years I've done a little yoga...but when you're pooh sized its really hard!

So, my point is.....what exercise do you all do? What do you enjoy most? Any suggestions for me? My first thought is to just pull out the Nordic Track and get going....

Oh, and I have an 8yo and a 3yo...we homeschool, so they're almost always here with me....they'd love to be included, I think! So my last question...if you have kids, how do you get them involved and/or out of your way?

Thanks!

Right now I prefer to go to the gym and use the elliptical and the treadmill. If I stay at home to work out (which I haven't in a very long time) I like Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies. I don't usually work out with my son, he usually comes to the gym with me and plays or goes to the playground. Once in a blue moon we will play basketball games in the gym, but we haven't done that in a while either.

I've been using an elliptical trainer. A couple of years ago, I bought an old-fashioned bike with pedal brakes (not hand brakes which I don't like). I really enjoyed biking along the paths by the lake. I didn't use it at all last year. I'm looking forward to taking it out this year. Now, if only spring would come...

I was doing the treadmill for the first 3 weeks soley. But now i have expanded my horizons.LOL I bought THE FIRM 3 pack scutpling videos and lesiie sansones 1,2,3, mile walk away the pounds tape. I absoutley was given good advise i have never bought any work out tapes in my life! I love to do the one mile walk (15) and combine that with the the firm ab tape man it's great and it's the quickest 25 minutes ever! That gives me a good 40 minute work out and time to drink a big glass of water in between changing out the tapes! I still do the treadmill but only twice a week i'm so hooked and look forward to the tapes if you can believe that.

I need to visit the FLYLADY site again. I read about cleaning the kitchen sink and that's as far as I got (just reading, not actually following the advice!) ;)

My favorite exercise is power walking. I am getting back into running as well. We have a great neighborhood for walking. Hardly any traffic, lots of interesting steets, mature trees, interesting landscapes. It's my favorite exercise! I love to walk almost everywhere!

I love the Walk Away The Pounds Tapes by Leslie Sansone. I get a great workout, it doesnt require you to be very coordinated, and she makes it fun and quick. I have the 2 mile tape and the 1,2,3 mile abs DVD. Im returning the Richard Simmons tape I bought last week for another one of her tapes. I just cant follow Richard.

Given the horrendous conditions outside, we've been focused recently on indoor exercise. While I still do my mainstay, Viniyasa (the traditional yoga discipline from whence "power yoga" is derived), I'm not doing The Firm several times per week. It's surely keeping me interested, though there are many mornings where I just can't get up the motivation to do anything, looking outside the window. They promise "you'll see results in just 10 work-outs." Gosh, did they deliver. I'm constantly finding new little bulges. :)

I can't wait for Spring.

I took Eeyore's advice last week and purchased Leslie Sansone's video, Walk The Walk. (This is the one with the christian music in the background). It has the one mile and two mile on one video.
I love it!! It may work for someone with small children also since you can do a mile and never leave the house. Great for the winter months.:D

I just started with curves and I hope this will be one of my regular forms of exercise. I also like the Richard Simmons video - Sweating to the Oldies. Once the weather decides to cooperate I'd like to get back to walking. I was doing real well with that by getting up early and walking before DH had to go to work and the kids to school. I like that time of morning - just me and my music.

I loved my Nordic Trak, but the computer broke and I didn't want to spend as much to replace it as I paid for the machine....well, at any rate, I use an elliptical trainer now and gave the Nordic Trak to my brother.

My Nordic Track computer still works....but I don't really need it...its basically a glorified stopwatch. The company went out of business right after I got mine (story of my life!)...so its really disappointing not to be able to get parts, etc...anymore. I'm hoping mine will continue to work for a long time. I did manage to get the book holder for it after the company was gone....I was so happy!

I recall seeing The Firm tapes years and years ago....I was curious then, but they were really expensive. So they really are good workouts? Perhaps I'll give them a try. What are the kinds of results you're seeing from them? I think my kids might do videos along with me...dd just did her own tape a few minutes ago...Yoga Kids. Which also reminded me...I borrowed some power yoga tapes from my mom a couple years ago...I bet I still have them here somewhere!

I used to really like one of Kathy Smith's Step Aerobics videos. I actually like more complex movements in my workouts...I guess its my dance history...but it keeps my mind off the fact that I'm exercising.

My favorite work out right now is belly dancing. I use Neena and Veena's Sensual Art of Belly Dance videos from bellytwins.com - so much fun! I love walking on the treadmill at the gym when I can get there, which is never ;)
