What's your favorite things to do in DTD?

For shopping I enjoy going to the World of Disney, Disney's Pin Traders, Team Mickey and The Art of Disney.

For dining locations I would go with Earl of Sandwich and Ghiradelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop.

My family LOVED DTD this trip!! My kids just totally enjoyed the dance parties(even my 4yr. old got in on the action!)!
My boys love DisneyQuest, but my dd only "likes" it, so one day there was enough for her. The boys wanted to go back for a 2nd time...so...dh and the boys did DisneyQuest while dd and I shopped! Works out perfect! Then we met up and had dinner at T-REX!! (must try chocolate extinction!)!

We always stay at POR and when we get there, the first thing we do is take the boat to DTD. We get some candy from Goofy Candy Co. and walk around for a bit. It gives us the "we are finally at WDW" feel

In this order:
-Eat at Earl
-Shop/walk around
-get lost and separated from each other in World of Disney
-Goofy's Candy Co.
-have dh smoke while we go get lots of pins in the pin store
-get ice cream cones
-leave!

FOOD:
  • Earle of Sandwich can't be beat. Sandwiches are awesome and we love the tomato soup.
  • Goofy's Candy Co.- great sweet treats- love creating my own marshmellow treat dipped in chocolate and candy! Or make a custom slushie!
  • Wolfgang puck- we have not eaten here yet, but i ONLY hear great things about it. We just haven't managed to give up Earle yet to try it!
SHOPPING:
We pretty much shop in all the stores and spend way too much. We love looking at the art in the art of disney store towards the back. I can't wait to see the new Trend-D store as well. WOD always gets a wad of our cash! We always get a christmas ornament too. We usually don't go down to the westside, but stay on the marketplace end.

OTHER:
  • the kids love playing in the spray fountains- lots of free fun!!! Just bring a change of clothes/swim diaper etc.
  • Checking out all the cool lego stuff is a blast. so much to see.
  • get a free chocolate at Ghiradelli!
  • check out the $10 and under deals at the $10under store
  • T-Rex- we can't wait to see it, although we probably won't eat here (I think rainforest is awful bar food that is overpriced). I would much rather just walk around and have a look and call it done
  • the new balloon ride looks extremely cool

Wolfgang Puck Express! love it, love it, love it!!

My girls (5 and 10) like to get their hair wrapped (they call it braided) while at DTD. My suggestion is to have it done at the nap of their neck instead of top of their head....shorter and doesn't cost as much! Plus, they don't swing it around like a helicopter on top of their head.....

Goofy's Candy Co.

$10 store

Christmas store

World of Disney store

people watch and relax as we window shop

stare at the lego family of dogs!

Has to be World of Disney! I'll never forget the first time I walked in there and just being so overwhelmed with it all, don't think I could ever get tired browsing in here :cloud9:

Team Mickey store and the Christmas shop are also great. For food my favourite is Planet Hollywood.

Holy guacamole!

Do I love DTD!!!!!

I never seem to have enough time there.

I do no virtually no shopping during my stay, because I get a discount at WOD. I only buy park specific, ride specific, or resort specific during the week. Then the last morning of the trip I spend at DTD. Boy do I spend! I am a shopping nut, well buying nut more specifically.

We did Goofy's Candy Co this trip for the first time and I was unimpressed, it was a time waster. It was fun to pick out the toppings and watch them make it, but the end result was not delicious. Candy Caudron on the Westside is much better IMHO

I wasn't impressed with the pin store.

Our favorites at DTD:

WOD

Giradelli's (the hot fudge here is sooooo delicious, I'd drink it from the spout, if I knew it wouldn't burn my mouth and destroy my sense of taste (that would be counter productive) I do hear your tastebuds do grow back relatively quickly, I'm just not willing to take the risk.

Once Upon a Toy

Lego Store

Trend D

Earl of Sandwich

Raglan Road

T-Rex (our food was not delicious, but the decor more than make up for it)

Team Mickey (they can make cool custom bats)

Candy Cauldron (Westside)

Cirque de Soliel

I really wanted to check out Design a Tee, we ran out of time!

A late dinner at House of Blues, followed by a leisurely walk through the Marketplace. I can hardly wait to do this! 3 more days!!! :goodvibes

I love to go into the Basin shop and try out their hand smoother stuff. It really works.

I also love Ghiradelli. A trip to DTD just isn't complete without one of their ice cream concoctions. The banana split was really good when I had it last month.

DS4 loved the World of Disney store, and drooled over the Rainforest Cafe. We didn't eat there, but ducked into the gift shop during a downpour, and he fell in love with it. He also liked Goofy's Candy shop, and the Ghiardelli chocolate shop. DD13 and DD19 liked the World of Disney, and the candy / chocolate shops as well. DS4 loved the fountain, and playing with the Lego's. He also loved the McDonalds, not just for the food, but the decor. Everyone had a good time at Planet Hollywood as well. The food is about what you would expect from any big chain restaurant, but the decor is quite a sight.

I think the sushi at Wolfgang Puck's is really good. The sushi chefs are always very entertaining.

As far as the "dance parties" at DTD...They were usually late in the afternoon/nighttime. I can't remember exactly the time exactly. We just always "happened" upon them. I believe the first time we watched one, it ended only about a half hour or hour before most of DTD closed.

Basically there is just the d.j. like guy that plays music and helps to teach everyone dance moves. He played music from the early years up until current music and taught the dance moves that went along with the music. He did everything from disco to the new Hannah Montana hoedown throwdown!

The first time he was beside Earl of Sandwich, but the next time we went it had been raining, so he moved under the big stage.

It can get hilarious, especially when the parents are dancing along with the kids, or when he calls out a specific grown up to do some dancing!! LOL At the end of our last "dance party" they had a dance off in which he picked couples from the crowd to compete. The crowd chose the winners by applause.

It was alot of fun. I never expected that to be something that my kids would enjoy so much. It is a great rest from the parks! My grumpy teen really got into it...my pre-teen dd loved the music...and I have pics of my 4yr. dancing his bootie off!!!!I think that child danced for an hour that night!! Big fun!

-Shop/walk around
-get lost and separated from each other in World of Disney
-Goofy's Candy Co.

Isn't that the truth! Too funny! We got separated both trips we stopped at this store..... multiple times per trip, even!
