Am having lunch at BB next weekend. Would love some suggestions on what to order - I figure if I'm going to be buying an expensive lunch, it would help to know what's great!

Am also having dinner at Cafe Orleans the night before. Any "must-haves" there?

TIA!

Definately the Gumbo to start and then the Slow Roasted Beef Strip Loin. The Gumbo is amazing and the beef is lovely with the yummy potatoes and onion strips. Also the bread rolls are warm and yum ( I take my bread seriously). We can never fit dessert in so I have no recommendations. Enjoy your meal and the ambiance.

We just had lunch at BB a few days ago. We split ($12 fee, soup or salad for both and the kitchen plates the meals) the flat iron steak and enjoyed it. The amount for each was just right. DH got the gumbo and I got the salad so we could share some of each.

What a great idea to split the meal officially, with both people getting a soup or salad! I didn't know they'd do that. Thanks!

Definitely order the gumbo versus the salad ( unless you have a string preference) - It wasn't until all my friends gave me a hard time at a dinner once that I tried it and have been hooked ever since.

For entrees my favorites are :

Strip Loin and Jambalaya !

I've really enjoyed everything I've had at Blue Bayou...and I'm a bit of a foodie. My favorite entree is the filet with béarnaise sauce; I had it for lunch but it looks like it's only dinner now, sadly. The Tesoro Island chicken is a close second. I've never had chicken that juicy at a restaurant.

But hands down my favorite food there is the Blue Bayou potatoes. I don't know what they do to them, but they are absolutely phenomenal.

I agree about the filet with Bernaise sauce. It comes with the blue bayou at gratin potatoes...which are absolutely to die for! Hubby likes the lamb.

I loved the lamb for dinner when I was there in September. Gumbo and bread rolls were also delicious.

I also loved the juicy and flavorful chicken breast, and they let me swap out the risotto it comes with for the Blue Bayou potatoes. Our waitress told me they use jalapeño juice to flavor the potatoes, and after she pointed it out I really noticed that flavor! Everything was SO good, it was our first time, but it's going to be upgraded to an 'every time' restaurant for us!

Yummm. Thanks for the suggestions - leaving on Thursday, and am so excited!

Oh my gosh I'm so glad you said that, I'm not a red meat eater but really wanted the potatoes.....good to know I can ask them to swap:)
