What is your favorite place to go and have a big lunch and cool off? Those days when you're hot and just want to go and have a nice meal somewhere to cool off for a while. We'd really like to have late lunches and that would be our big meal for the day and then have a light supper later that evening. We want something more than sandwiches and burgers and have three little kids. Any advice?

Sounds like a great plan but keep in mind -- many of WDW's best restaurants are not open for lunch.

Of those that offer lunch ....
Epcot - Le Cellier and Chef de France
MGM - Brown Derby
AKL -- nothing we like
MK - The Plaza Restaurant on Main St

Most of the time we do lunch at resort's Food Court and head to the pool.

Buffets at Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's?

We enjoy the 50's prime time cafe, but not so much the sci fi diner

At Epot, you have your choice of many world cuisines. I dined in Marakesh(sp?) once with DD12, about 5y ago, she is already asking if we can go back again this trip. A fine idea as DH loves trying different types of food (if he had his way, he'd spend the week eating his way through the WS restaurants)

PS~ We enjoyed The Plaza, but as I recall, it was sandwiches, salads and burgers (but yummmmmmmmmmmmy)

We also have enjoyed a couple of lunches at Tony's as you enter MK

Chef Mickey's... It's nice to cool off inside the Contemporary, and even though there is usually a wait, you are inside and the kids can walk around the grand concourse shops. Unlike places like CrystalPalace where you are waiting outside in the heat

The Yacht Club Galley at the Yacht Club is great for lunch. It is only a short walk from the back exit of Epcot and it is a nice relaxing and cool break from the park in the afternoon.

DH and I love to eat at San Angel Inn in Epcot's Mexican pavilion - the food, ambience and the overall atmosphere are the best!!! And it is definitely a cool way to relax and have lunch:)

My first response would be Flametree BBQ, yet that is not a place to cool off, so I would say Garden Grille!

In the parks Brown Derby, Chefs de France & The Plaza

Resorts Kona, GF Cafe & room service or take food court stuff around the pool or back to the room.

Kae beat me to the punch on our favorite park lunch spots -
The Plaza Restaurant (MK), Brown Derby (MGM) and Chefs de France (EPCOT).

The best value IMHO is Trails End buffet at Fort Wilderness. Good food, buffest style and great price for lunch.

Plus, it's nice to just get out of MK for a while, take a nice relaxing boat ride and eat some nice hearty food. There's plenty of choices for both kids and adults and when you're done, it only takes 15 minutes back to MK. Another plus, I've never seen in crowded during lunch either.

I also agree that Kona Cafe is an excellent place for lunch. If you're at Epcot, a little walk to Beaches & Cream is also delish! The burgers are big and juicy and the ice creams are to die for!

I think Beaches and Cream is the perfect lunch place. Not too heavy and you can certainly cool off with one of their fun ice cream creations!

Also, we love Casey's Corner at MK for lunch. Simple Hot dogs and fries. It is hard to find a place to sit in the indoor eating area with the few tables ad stadium seats but if you are lucky enough to get a seat, nothing feels better on a hot MK day!:sunny: :cloud9:

Restaurant Marrakesh
(it's dark and cool in there, plus they don't get packed, so you can have a little quiet time!)

I vote for the Grand Floridian Cafe. It's on the monorail, it's quiet, nice atmosphere, and the food is great! I love having lunch here and leaving the bustle of the parks for a while.

We LOVE lunch in the Castle. It is like you are a million miles away from the park for a hour or so. You are treated like a king or queen.

At AK we like lunch at Rain Forest Cafe, and at MGM we like Prime Time Cafe. At Epcot any WS place is nice and cheaper at lunch that at dinner. While the food is overpriced and just so -so, the coral reef is a pretty cool place for lunch too.

KONA CAFE...so relaxing and great food! Perfect for lunch. It's our kids favorite too!! Second runner up would be the Grand Floridian Cafe.
