What's your favorite overlooked park "thing/object"?

Off the top of my head, the few things that come to mind are:
the talking and buzzing going into and exiting the POOH Ride.
The Cheshire Cat that appears in the mirror in the Mad Hatter
The Cobweb lamp that is over Madame Leota's Head during the NBC overlay
The way the hearse is lit up in the HM graveyard
The long horns that adorn the Golden Horse Shoe Theater
The sound my shoes make on the wooden walkway in front of the Golden Horse Shoe, makes me feel like a cowgirl :)
The Initials for Walt and Roy on the Gate above the Gumbo place in NOS
The music and sounds while waiting in line for the jungle cruise.
We are going Sunday HOORAY!! So, I am sure Ill think of more.
Happy New Year Everyone!!

I love Cheshire the cat in the mirror in the shop by AIW.

I love the headstone markers at HMH when the cue lines are to capacity.

I love the gun firing when you ride the Columbia!

I love the slowly moving eyeball of the whale in Storybook Land.

I love the Revolutionary War flags representing the 13 colonies entering Frontierland.

I love the mini-autopia car tribute on the Autopia path.

I love the functional US mail boxes on Main Street.

I love the bat's eyes lit up when coming back to the surface on POTC, I love to tell kids that there is a secret underground entrance from POTC to HMH that the bats inhabit!

I love the morse code transmission of Walt's opening day speech at NOS train station.

I love the wiggling rattlesnake across from the goat on BTMRR.

I love the plaque when entering Main Street, I always make everyone read it out of respect for Disneyland and it's genius creator... Walt Disney!

I love the Inner-Space magnifier tribute on Star Tours, right before you exit the station and go into space.

I'll stop now...

Those are great choices, Corpsebride!!!:goodvibes And I must say that I am very sad I can't get back to DLR on Sunday the 4th to see the last day of the holiday decorations, but also because it seems like half of DISboards is going to be there! Corpsebride, have you been keeping up with the threads about this Sunday's mini-meet at Pizza Port in TL? Pixiewings71 (Kerri), WazowskiLOVER (Jasmine), Mary Jo, toocherie, TheAxiom, disneyLOVE, Shyboy, YellowMickeyPonchos (Nancy) and maybe one or two others are meeting at RRPP at, I THINK they decided, 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. I don't know if you are meeting up with them or are just in the parks that day, but I am sad that I will miss meeting all of my DISboard friends, including you!!!! I hope your wrist/hand is better too!:goodvibes

I love all the overlooked things everyone has been coming up with. Along the same lines as the edible plants I mentioned earlier, I also love all the topiary bushes in DL. Of course, most of them are located in Fantasyland but there is the great Oogie Boogie bush in the queue for HMH as well as couple of other random ones, I think, and ones on the DLH property. I think those are so fun and the average non-obsessed Disney visitor may not notice them right away.....My friend who pointed out the horseshoe prints and hoof prints in Frontierland the other day also noticed the rabbit foot prints on the outside part of the track at the end of the Alice ride.....I like all the bronze statues and fountains around DLR (only a small number of which I got some cool black and white pictures of, which are in my Trip Report - link in signature below). I like the fountains and water features that lurk around every turn in A Bug's Land.....I like a LOT of the details in ToonTown, many of which are kind of meant to be hidden except for when curious 'kids' go looking for them like the obvious talking mailboxes and things, but every inch of ToonTown has something clever in it that goes beyond what kids notice. I had never paid too much attention to Goofy's house until 2 weeks ago, and I LOVE the little Goofy plant or bush or whatever it was in his garden!! (I tried to get a picture of it so I could recall it accurately but the camera died!).....OH, and I know this is easily overlooked because it looks like everything else, but I love PUSH the talking trashcan in DCA!!! I had heard about him and was looking for an unusual looking trashcan, not realizing that he looked like every other one in that area!!! Watching people react to PUSH is hilarious. Kids alternately hug him and beat him up!!

And who could forget the popcorn carts, each with different little people inside, spinning the popcorn around? I love the Oogie Boogie one, where he is spinning the popcorn inside, but there was also a Santa one and other cute ones. I bet a lot of people overlook those!

This is such a fun thread. I'm going to Disneyland next Saturday (the 10th) and will try to watch out for some of these awesome hidden gems! :) :goodvibes

Oh thank you Sherry! My hand is all better. Im back to work. I have not been keeping up with the mini meet info though (im slapping my own hand- Shame on me!! :lmao: )
We wont be there that early. BUT!!! Ill have a LGMH on my Jacket. So hey guys, keep a look out for a LGMH on a long black coat, and Ill keep a look out for you guys too. And one day Sherry, we will get to meet too!!
Maybe on the MTRB sitting on the box on the second level , where the band plays. (Thats another one of my favorite things that seems to get over looked)
This is a great thread. Ill keep my eyes open for more stuff that I love.
:wizard:

I like the little sign on the lamp post by the corner of the Mad Hatter and Mr. Toad that points the direction for each attraction.

Along the same lines I am a big fan of the Mr. Toad statue right inside the queue. I have taken my picture with the statue at least once on every trip that I have taken to DL.

I also love the detailing of Jingles (the lead horse on the King Arthur Carousel) with the Mary Poppins inspired crest.

Finally I love the torches on the Adventureland sign at night. It truly makes it feel exotic to me.

I love them as a source of heat while waiting for friends/family who have to make one last pit stop at the bathrooms over by there there before leaving. :p

2 more sound-related things:
I appreciate that they still have The Swiss Family Robinson organ and music.
Also, I love the music that they pipe in for the Jungle Cruise queue, how instead of just having jungle animal sounds, they have songs that sound like they're coming from a victrola or a radio.

Ooo...I almost forgot to mention the petrified tree! Lots of ppl overlook it everyday & whenever I see it, it reminds me of Walt and Lillian.
I also love the tree that's infront of HM on the left side & the far right of the graveyard. It's my favorite tree in the whole park! I love how it looses it's leaves in the winter and how stickly it looks (it's not bare yet). Then the leaves start to come out again in the spring and it looks like a green umbrella. Man, I sound like a treehugger. :goodvibes

Nobody pays attention to these but me.

I always check out the name tags. I also love seeing where the CMs are from. If they are local I will talk to them about the area and changes and such. Or if they are from really far, ask them how they got to be working here.

My favorite is the bathroom signs.

Most areas have bathroom signs that go with the theme. Tomorrowland is my favorite. I found one more this trip back at the Hungry Bear.

I also was looking at hoof prints in the ground this trip. I had seen them before but this time I also noticed cowboy boot prints.

I really like those Tomorrowland bathroom signs, as well as the cute bathroom signs in A Bug's Land. I meant to look for some ToonTown bathroom signs this last trip, but forgot.
