Are there certain times you'd pick another resort over your favorite depending on the time of year you're going?

Definitely. Over Christmas week in 2015, we stayed at BWI and it saved our trip. Being able to walk to two parks made the trip so much easier as any Disney transportation that week (including monorails and boats) was incredibly crowded and buses took longer than usual because of the traffic. Last year, we went the week before Christmas and chose WL because of the sheer beauty of the resort and the decorations at that time of the year. We also stayed there last August when we did MNSSHP to make transportation easier. We've also stayed at CR on a short trip to do MVMCP for the same reason. If our primary trip focus is one of the EP festivals, we will book an EP resort. Honestly, although I have favorites, I'm happy staying at any of the deluxes (except Poly, honestly, it just gets too crowded and I don't like the dining options there), so I will pick based on which will give us the best location advantage for our plans for a particular stay.

I would love to try Poly next time but my husband and family are such picky eaters....... so I don't know if it would be worth it. My wish is that although I totally understanding theming etc. it would be nice if every resort added a traditional food court (even if it was smaller). On a Disney trip my kids are chicken, pizza, (Pinocchio's Village & Rain Forest)...:sad2:

Grand Floridian but only staying in the main building club level. Otherwise I wouldn't like it because I don't like to have to leave the room and go outside to go to the main building. That is the reason we have never stayed at the Poly, but we have stayed at the other MK resorts.

The time we stayed at Grand Floridian was the best Disney vacation I've had to date. Nothing beat being able to walk out of the room get right on the elevator and hop on the monorail. Loved sitting in the lobby hearing the pianist and then when we were enjoying ice cream and we got the band! One of the most memorable moments I ever had.

I know we stayed at Wilderness once, I don't have the best memory of that stay, but everyone else who was on that trip still talks about how much they didn't like it.

We try to visit every few years during holiday season and stay at a different mod or deluxe resort each time to experience as many of them as we can. Sometimes we have even done a split stay.

If I go in the winter or cooler months I prefer BC or BWI. If I were picking a MK resort only during winter months, I would still pick Poly.

We've stayed at Yacht Club, Beach Club, Polynesian and Contemporary (although that was when I was very young).

Favorite is a toss up between Yacht and Beach. The location just can't be beat. The pool is great. The lobby smell is amazing and the entire resort just feels very clean/spotless. :)

But...MK would be Polynesian because it's my most recent memory. But honestly if we stay in MK area again I think we'd want to try Grand Floridian or Contemporary now that I'm older. Polynesian just didn't do it for us.

We've stayed at all but GF so far. Poly and BLT are both favorites, as others have mentioned, being able to walk to TTC or to MK is unbeatable! We stayed at WL once, it falls behind the others only because it's not a monorail resort. We love the monorail!

I’ve only stayed at WL (Poly this fall) but we absolutely fell head over heels for WL. Most of it had to do with the amazing CCV 2 bedroom villa overlooking the pool that we stayed in to be fair. That room is going to be hard to beat. But the quiet, relaxing lobby, gorgeous walk to the boat to MK, drinks and snacks right in the water at Geyser Point. Everything there was calm and peaceful and CMs were best we’ve encountered at WDW. Once you left the parks WL felt like an actual vacation away from the crazy which is so important to us.

Excited to stay at Poly but if it doesn’t live up to expectations we are more than happy to go back to WL next time :)

Poly for the theme, but overall stay, I like CR. Much quieter in common areas, especially the pool. Walk to MK, first stop back on the monorail. One stop to the TTC for Epcot, Ferry to WL and Ft Wilderness. On a rainy day its great that you can get off the monorail and not have to walk outside to get to your room. Staff always seems more professional and knowlegable there too.
