Well, it just so happens that I went to an orchard in PA last weekend, and picked up a variety of apples. (Which I transported in my carry-on back to FL)
My new favorite (which I'm eating as I post) is a Nittany, developed by Penn State. wonderful!
I made pies with the Winesaps and Northern Spys, and have been eating the Empires. I also like the Braeburns and Cortlands; I mix them with Granny Smiths for a tasty pie.
