What's your favorite Disney memory?

i have so many great memories from my DW having the stuffins scared out of her in Dinosaur, from watching wishes with her for the first time. well i have a tie for the new best memorie i have of WDW. they both have to do with our recent trip i took with my older brother and his family. the first one is riding RnR with my older brother and both of us just screaming like 2 little kids. our kids even remarked how we looked like we were having too much fun for 2 old guys. the other was watching my DW my SIL and my nieces getting soaked on Kali. they were making fun of us because the guys were sitting on one side so they figured the "weight" would make the raft go down the drop backwards. when the raft suddenly stopped spinning and their end was going down first , well they all got soaked. we had so much fun we got fastpasses and rode kali 3 more times before we left.

Well there's nothing "Disney" about it, except that my then 11-year old DD got her first period at WDW ... of all places! Fortunately I had been half expecting it and was prepared, and she wasn't embarrassed at all ... just surprised.

Now that is a very unusual first to celebrate.

My favorite memory is the night I convinced my DW to not leave the MK park right after closing. We sat on the benches near the flag pole for about two hours after closing time. A CM came up to us to do a survey and after that I asked him how long we could stay before they "kicked" us out. He said that they would not make us leave but occasionally someone would ask if we needed help and remind us that the park was closed. That would be their way saying go home but that things were secured and other CM's were on duty all night. We stayed for a few minutes more before leaving but I did get a photo of me on Main Street with no one else around.

My fondest Disney memory is when my now 18 year old son was four years old. He was a HUGE fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the day he met Leonardo in person at MGM Studios was the best day of his life. We have video of my son (wearing his Goofy Hat with the long ears) shaking hands with Leonardo -- it is just the best. :goodvibes

My favorite Disney memory is sitting with my DH (then DBF) on the fountain near Pirates of the Caribbean (I think it is gone now) on our trip in March 1996. He was giving me "the look" and I knew he was going to ask me to marry him...but he didn't. It was a little confusing, but that was when I first knew he was going to ask me, so I didn't get upset.

Two months later, the truth came out. He had my ring specially made, and it was not ready before the trip, so he arranged to have it shipped to our resort and planned to propose when it arrived. However, we were staying at an off-site resort (name withheld), and when the package arrived, and even though he had stopped by the desk to let them know he was expecting an important package, they sent it back to the sender! Every day he would check at the desk, and they told him it did not arrive (though in actuality the ring had indeed arrived on the second day of our stay). So, even though he really wanted to propose to me on that trip, he had no ring to do it with!

He told me this story after he finally proposed to me on my birthday...in a parking garage because even though he had planned out and executed a very romantic day which was supposed to finally end with the proposal, he had forgotten the ring in the trunk of the car!

my favourite memory was when i took mum to disneyworld for her 1st trip last year.At 51 years old she stood on main street leaping up and down at the sight of the castle, then she burst into floods of tears and hugged me till i couldn't breathe-she said afterwards that she just couldn't believe she was actually there! :wizard:

Thank you all for sharing your favorite memories.. One of mine is watching my mother and my DD (3) walk hand in hand down Main Street!! This was of course after my mom held her while they watched the parade together. They were inseperable on that trip. How neat is it that my children got to go to WDW with their parents and grand parents!! My parents were never able to take us as children, so they enjoy every second of seeing their grandchildren there!!

I love that! It's great to be able to do something for our parents after all of the amazing things they've done for us. :flower:

One of my most favorite moments was this past November. I was so "caught up" in getting the perfect picture that I totally missed out on getting the picture of one particular child.

I was on Main Street and I noticed this little boy just beam with delight when he saw Mary Poppins and Bert. He let out the most delightful squeel and said, "Penguin" when he saw the penguin join Mary and Bert. He kept running to his parents and then back to the penguin. It was then that I noticed this dear little boy was a special needs child. That made it even more special for me. Just knowing that somethin so simple as a penguin could bring so much joy and life to a child.

I will always remember that child's dear face. I am constantly reminded that the "real picture" is not always the perfect, everyone in place, all hair in order type. Sometimes the spur of the moment ones with a child's lit up face is better than anything anyone could ever stage. :flower:

My best memory happened at MGM. My now 13-year-old DD, who was then 4, saw a lady walking with one of those leashes that looks like you are walking an invisible dog. Out of the corner of my eye I see my daughter starring at this lady with her mouth gapping in awe. She then comes running over to me and says with her sweet little lisp “Mommy, Mommy…I just saw a lady and she was walking a dog that was INDIVISIBLE”.

I’ll remember this moment until the day I die.

Mine is from our trip this past June. DH and my two older girls wanted to jump on BTMR and SplashM when Wishes was just about to start. Madeline and I stopped in the street to the right of Casey's and watched the fireworks together. Madeline was so excited about the show, all the people around us noticed and couldn't help but watch her. She would point and make this adorable face with her mouth wide open like she was just in awe. I was in awe, too, not only of Wishes but also of my sweet, beautiful daughter. I will never forget that time together. It was truly magical.

A funny memory from our last trip (this month) happened at the San Angel Inn at Epcot. DD1 (6 yrs old) ordered off the adult menu because she wanted tacos. We ordered beef and expected ground beef, but it was steak. The look on her face was priceless as she leaned forward, smelled the tacos and said, "This smells like P-O-O." DH and I could not stop laughing. She did end up eating it, by the way, and loved it. :rotfl:

I have so many memories of WDW that my mind is racing trying to think of them. That is a good thing though. :)

When they had the Mickey Birthday Show in what is now Toontown, at the end of the show, all the characters led the way to a second room and climbed up on a tall cake structure. Minnie came up and took my the 4yo DD hand and walked her to the other room. I can still picture the two of them hand in hand walking down the long hall ahead of everyone else. She is now 23 and I think it is one of her favorite memories also.

I have a bunch-
I went to DW in June with a family who had never been before. The trip had been discussed for five years before it was a reality so it was a much anticipated event. Walking into Epcot on our first morning, my friend sqeezed my hand and with tears rolling down her cheeks said "We finally made it".

Surprising the family with my disboard secrets- we were the next in line for the monorail to the MK on our second day (they had NEVER seen the castle before) and I asked the CM if we could ride up front. It required some juggling because the younger child is in a wheelchair (her dad took the wheelchair into the main train and I carried her) but it was well worth their faces. Chris kept repeating "oh man oh man" she was in awe.

It's not Disney but it was on the trip: We went to Universal and Shrek is my idol. For months I watched one of the Shrek Movies every night so that I could fall asleep (I had severe insomnia). Shrek is the only thing that cheers me up. I memorized every line of every movie. I have Shrek stuffed animals, key chains, stickers, chapstick, m&m's... you name it I'm obsessed (I recently bought Shrek cereal just cuz it was Shrek).
I got to MEET Shrek and Donkey. And when it was my turn to give him a hug I started sobbing. I just stood there- nobody could understand why. I'm 20 (ooooh 21 in 1 hour 3 minutes) years old and Shrek is my hero and giving him a hug meant the world to me. That was the best memory of the trip.
