Share your favorite Disney memory.

Mine is about 2 months after twin DDs were born, I was really stressed out staying home with 2 newborns, a 3 yr old, and 5 yr old and my DH and I were just not connecting. He secretly arranged for my mom to watch the kids for the evening and then took me to one of my fav places...Disneyland. It was the first time in a long time we went just the two of us. I remember waiting for the parade and it starting to drizzle. We sat close, shared an umbrella, a cup of hot cocoa and just talked. Being there at night with everything lit up it was so pretty and it felt like it was just the two of us in the whole park. We didn't even really do any rides, just spent time there together. It was just what we needed to reconnect. (And of course since then there have been many wonderful memories with my kids as well.) Leave it to the magic of Disney to make us feel like newlyweds again if only for a little while.

My favorite from my recent trip was when the Dapper Dans noticed that it was my 7 year old daughter's birthday. They pulled her out in front of a crowd and sang 2 songs to her, Happy Birthday, and Cruella DeVille. But the best part was that the next morning, we were in the Main Street Bakery, and they saw her again, AND REMEMBERED HER NAME! Watching her blush and giggle as they sang to her was a real treat for me. And remembering her name the next day was just magical.

Well, I have a few:

Favorite memory from childhood is Mom walking over the bridge out of tomorrowland toward the castle on our first trip, 1990, when I was 10, with the hugest grin on her face and skipping. I had never seen her so happy; she said that she had always watched disneyland on tv as a child and now she was finally there at 37 years old.

Favorite memory of my family now is my ds's face after he met his idol, donald duck, for the first time. He was absolutely floating in the clouds. It was worth all the money just for that smile. :flower:

My best memory is the entire first night of our trip.

It was my first time to Disney as well as my kids' first time so I was just as excited as they were. Things could not have been more perfect. Everything was pure Disney magic. From our first glimpse of Cinderella Castle, to dinner with Mickey and the gang at Chef Mickey's, to the bus driver that has us singing and chanting all the way back to POR.

I had dreamed of going to WDW since I was a little girl, so that trip was a dream come true for me. It was made even better because I got to share it with my children. They would get so overwhelmed with excitement they'd just hug me out of nowhere and say "thank you for bringing us to Disney World Mommy! I love you!"

It was one of the best days of my entire life.

My favorite memory from our most recent trip is when my 5yo DD FINALLY met Peter Pan. She has been in LOVE w/ him for 3 years now and this is our first trip back since she has loved him. We were in the MK heading over to see if he was out when DH made a detour outside the Tiki room to those tiki poles that squirt water at you, he dragged DD in and they had a great time playing. Now that they were cooled off and soaked we headed to see Peter Pan...and he was out! DD ducked behind me and said "NO, Mama I can't see Peter NOW" I didn't understand she had been counting down the days for 8 months to see him. When I asked her why she quitely said "because I'm not beautiful" She couldn't met the man she wanted to marry all wet.!!! So we passed him by. That evening I went when we got back to the room she ran to the dresser and picked out the "perfect dress" and asked me to do her hair. So my most magical memory was seeing the look on my little angels beautiful face as see hugged Peter and took a picture w/ him Looking rather beautiful I might add...

funny favorite for me is we were with a family who are extremely" frugal". this was about 15 yrs ago and at home they normally would have spent around at the most $8 for a niceer sit down dinner out( & under strong protest ie they would all, a family of 5 .share one pop since they could get free refills, often ate at ponderosa so they could order only 1 child's steak for their kids and have all their kids eat off one plate ect  )).

any way they went to the contemporary and got prime rib for around $12-13. when they were telling us about it the husband was saying how good it was and the price and added "That's not bad!" referring to the cost then caught himself and made a funny " light bulb going off" type of face and started laughing when he realized he probably would never ever pay that much at home for any meal...so ever since when we go to disney and are caught off guard by a price higher than we might pay elsewhere we say "that's not bad" and always bust out laughing remembering his look of total shock of how much he had just paid for dinner( kind of had to be there but we still get a kick out of it 15 yrs later)

Marching down main street with my high school band and seeing my grandfather's face light up. He had never seen me perform before because he lives in florida and im from mass. My whole family was there, but the only person I was really looking for was him. They had all seen me numerous times. He is always so proud of his grand kids and doesnt miss a second to say it, for some reason I liked it better when I saw it on his face rather then when he told me. :goodvibes

The look on my then 17 year old DS's face when he was getting "mauled" by Minnie Mouse @ Chef Mickey's...so many hugs & kisses.

Boy, was his face red, but he loved it. He, who complained that the dinner would be too "baby-ish", Mr. Cool had a wonderful time...let him be that little kid again who'd get up every day @ 5:00 a.m. to watch old re-runs of The Mickey Mouse Club.

Each child's (and my DH's) first glimpse of the Castle was priceless too.

Part of the magic is looking forward to new memories each visit.

As with most mothers my favorite memories revolve around my children. When my now 17 year old son was 3 we were watching the swans on shore around the moat at Cinderella Castle. There was a black swan who kept stretching out his neck and pulling it back in quickly. My son didn't know what in the world it was and he kept yelling "Look, look, it's a snake! It's a snake!" We have it on film so we have captured those words forever. More recently my 4 year old and I went this past July (just the two of us) for a quick 4 day trip and as we were riding the ME bus onto property, he sees the big WDW sign and turns to me and says "Give me a hug!" and throws his arms around my neck!! What is it that the commercial says? Priceless.

When I was a young boy – around 8 maybe? – my family went down and while we were at Epcot at the American pavillion, the Colonial era Fife & Drum band came out marching and playing :rolleyes1 , then stopped in the front to play for a while, drawing a crowd of course. Then the leader talked about something and then picked me :earseek: out of the audience to come up and be made an honorary member. He put his old fashioned hat on my head and had me stand at attention holding a flat or a pike or something, then went through an elaborate speech using big, flowery Colonial language, and presented me with a copy of the Declaration of Independence. (Which I still have in a closet somewhere.)

I just thought that was the coolest thing ever. :teeth: Maybe it helped contribute to my love for history (and music).

Last trip when we were in line at AK for autographs from Rafiki, out comes Mickey ( my then 18mos old absolute hero) My little sweety takes off running toward Mickey yelling Mickeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey! We had to catch her before she got in someone's picture. Everytime she saw Mickey or Minnie she would take off after them! :earsboy: :goodvibes ::MickeyMo

Last January, when my DH proposed to me next to the castle at Disneyland. It really touched me that he went to so much effort to make the proposal so magical, at our favorite place. That spot will always hold a special place in my heart. To top it off, he took me to Disney World for our honeymoon in June. What a guy!

I love reading these posts. Some are funny. Some almost made me tear up. But it's great to see how the "magic" touches everyone. :wizard:

Watching WISHES from our Lagoon View room at the GF the night before our wedding. The WISHES show defined that trip...all of my "wishes" came true. I must say, I cannot watch WISHES anymore without sobbing with happiness. It is so special watching it with my own Prince Charming standing right next to me.

Incidentally, we will be there watching WISHES again for our second anniversary! I can't wait!

i have so many! the first that comes to mind is my 22nd birthday when a guitar trio pulled me over in fronteirland and serenaded me. i was thrilled! my favorite memory from being a CP is going to MK on warm, quiet days with a notebook, and writing letters to my friends while riding TTA over and over again. so peaceful! i am taking my DBF for his birthday in May so i am sure i will have some wonderful new memories after that trip! :flower:

On our first family trip, in 1993, we were wandering around England in the World Showcase, turned a corner near the garden, and came upon Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Smee, Alice, and the Red Queen in the otherwise deserted square. We blinked at each other for a moment - where was everyone else? And then these characters, among my children's favorites, came over and treated us to a wonderful interlude. The Red Queen has always made my kids nervous (at this time they thought she was Disney's all-time scariest bad guy). Somehow the CM inside that enormous costume noticed their discomfort and beat a quick retreat. Peter Pan and Alice knelt down next to my 3 y/o d and talked to her for quite a while, admiring her binoculars and listening to her jabber. Captain Hook and Smee arranged the rest of us into several very amusing poses for the camera (wordlessly, of course) that are still some of the best family photos we've ever taken. We had several minutes of undivided attention before any other guests happened by. Sheer magic. :goodvibes

My favorite memory was in May 2004 when we took our DD5 to Disney World for the first time. We stayed at the Polynesian and we would end our evening on the beach waiting for Wishes to start. We would tell stories and play in the sand. Right before the fireworks start, we would find a hammock for the three of us to share. We stayed to watch the water pageant go by and then head off to our room for bed. My DH is always surprised when I say that this was my favorite memory.

The first trip as a family when DSs were 3 and 5. The first time the boys seen Mickey, the monorail, and the Castle. On that visit we rode the train and my oldest DS called out "All Aboard" for the conductor and then told everyone, "That was Bryan from Kentucky"! :flower:
I know I've said this before but last December my youngest DS (13 at the time) leaned over to me during WISHES and said (with tears in his eyes), "I'm getting that warm, fuzzy feeling in my tummy. I'm all emotional." :love2:

Ok ! Now that one made me cry ! Anything to do with boys and crying always gets me by the heart strings, but for it to be one of your own....
