I think the girls have a "short" of that on one of their DVD's....I might dig it out for them, it's a sweet story:goodvibes

I really love 'It's a wonderful life' best of all, but I really love Home Alone, Miracle on 34th street, The Santa Clause and I could go on and on and on....

Phil's favourite was 'It's a Wonderful Life' but I couldn't quite get to grips with it :confused3

Have anyone seen 'The Christmas Shoes'?
It was recommended, on the US boards, a couple of years ago and had me in floods of tears......! :sad1:
Lovely but soooo sad.....:grouphug:
Home Alone is great, Miracle on 34th, Christmas with the Kranks, I'll be home for Christmas............and on, and on......;)

I really want to see '4 Christmases', with Eve, this weekend :thumbsup2

My personal favourite is Gremlins, memories of teenage christmases!! But as a family we love xmas with the kranks, bizarre I know but we do! We obviously have a weird sense of xmas!!

Oh and my favourite film of all time is You've got mail which has a xmas section in too.

It has to be Love Actually for how all the stories are intertwined and the Christmas scenes :)

Claire ;)

I find that movie really hard to watch - I used to watch it and love it, but then we emigrated, and the scene at the end with all the families reuniting at the airport (reminds me of our leaving day from the UK - many tears!) is too much for me ..... we never have family christmases here as my parents wont come out for christmas, we cant leave at christmas, and his parents cant travel at all. So for us - thats a tough scene!

I have a morbid fear of ET.... I feel slightly ill now I've even thought about him.... Thunder were at Newcastle City Hall yesterday and I was shocked to see an ET toy in the front window of their tour bus..... I nearly ran into the road screaming!

For a classic christmas movie then It's A Wonderful Life just gets me all teary eyed :sad1: :goodvibes

Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all time favourite movies and gets brought out about now to start thinking about Christmas :goodvibes

My fave is Muppets Christmas Carol. I haven't watched it yet this Christmas, but I have watched The Snowman and Father Christmas :santa:

I think I must be alone in thinking that Its A Wonderful Life is the most depressing Christmas film ever! Honestly the ending just depressed me.

Shame on you!;) :teeth:

I first watched It's a Wonderful Life 16 years ago, on Christmas Eve 1992, with my new, 10 week old daughter asleep on my lap. She never moved for 2 hours, so I just stayed still and enjoyed this lovely film. Have watched it every year since (own a couple of copies now, on video and DVD) - even managed to see it in Florida in 2003!

I've another, more recent favourite too... a bit of a cheesy one, with some dodgy acting, but it makes me smile and puts me in a festive mood.. "The Holiday" (2006) with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet Jack Black & Jude Law.

I did a presentation at it last year at uni at Christmas time.

All I got from it is give up hope on your dreams and settle with what you've got, I kept waiting for george to go to New York and he never did. The whole American dream thing about owning a home just trapped them. If the biggest dream you can have is to own a home than that is depressing and the cause of much misery.

I know a lot of people see it as "happiness you are looking for is right under your nose" .

Not a Christmas film but pre-SKY and DVD days always used to enjoy watching 'The Great Escape' though nowadays seen it just tooo many times.

Anyone remember 'National Velvet' with a young Elizabeth Taylor? that was on every year too.

Home Alone is my favourite, especially the slapstick moments which are still very funny even after several viewings.
