What's your experience with Delta?

I can get great times out of CMH on an ERJ (which I love to fly), but have never flown Delta before. What has been your experience with Delta Connections in particular?

We love Delta! As a matter of fact I just received a letter from them today telling us about the steps the company is taking to avoid court-ordered restructuring and that even if they did go into restructuring, it would not affect our current or future flight plans and they would continue to honor what they can and what they cannot they would help to accomodate us in other ways. I felt very good about that letter. At least they are keeping us informed. I have airfare booked with them for our trip in a week and a half and again in April/May.

Thank you. I have heard mixed reviews about Delta, so I wondered.

I know they get mixed reviews but I've been flying with them since I was a kid and I never had a problem with them.

Most, if not all, airlines get mixed reviews.

I find Delta to be pretty good but on any airline on any day you can hit the day things happen. Lots of times things happen that are beyond airline control, but people still fuss. I once saw a man cuss out a gate agent since the flight was delayed due to the airport being closed during a storm. I wondered if he thought she was God and had the ability to clear the skys???

We've flown Delta, the old Delta Express, and Song many times between Hartford and Orlando and we've been very satisfied. I can only think of one significant delay --- the plane from Mexico City was delayed, and (much to our surprise and enjoyment) we were directed to a blocked off gate area in Orlando that had sandwiches, beverages and snacks! This was ~ 5 years ago, so this type of service may have gone by the wayside.

We prefer direct flights, and Delta has delivered. When Song first started, I wasn't happy with the prices, but they have been more in sync with SWA prices the last 6 months. I'd recommend them highly.

(and I agree that any airline can have a bad day ....... just like transportation at any resort can have a bad day)

We flew Delta from CMH last Thanksgiving. Doing the same this Thanksgiving. No problems. It's a straight flight, which was a plus. Small (3 across) plane. Lavoratory is in the back. Sure beats driving!

We've flown Delta a few times, and except for that illegal "job action" their pilot's union pulled in Jan 2001 that just about ruined the front end of our vacation, and they've been fine.

After 2 very bad experiences with connections on Delta this summer and their total lack of help solving the problems, we will never fly Delta again. Even if they are the cheapest, we won't take them. Spent an entire day (16 hours) stranded in the LA airport, while our flight was delayed first for mechanical problems, then personnel problems, finally to fly out on the red eye (2 hours late also), to arrive in Atlanta just after they closed the doors on our connection, and spent 8 hours in the Atlanta airport on standby. They did not care in the slightest, we were not even offered a meal for our family's trouble.

Had to fly them to Seattle 2 weeks later, and numerous delays again, arriving 8 hours late. We got on planes, only to have to get back off, flights were mysteriously cancelled, it was awful.

If you have a direct flight with no connections, you might be better off.

If you have a poor experience with Delta just give them an email. I have found their customer service to be one of the best so far.

We use Delta for our East Coast trips. We have always had pretty good experiences. I have had one mechanical problem and had to be changed from original flights. Our family ended up receiving vouchers for future travel after I sent an email.

I have our Christmas flights booked with Delta and we have had schedule changes numerous times. Delta is very accomidating when there is a schedule change. If you get a person that is hard to understand or unhelpful just hang up and try again!

We will continue to use them for our future flight needs!

We are taking Delta for our trip in December and we haven't taken them for a long time. We are a little concerned right now due to the possible bankrupsey in the works. Right now our flight is 1/4 full. We hope everything goes fine and we get to WDW on time with no delays:) and our flights are not canceled.

I have used Delta almost exclusively for the past 8 years and have had great service! They have finally gotten us a direct flight to Orlando and I love it!!! (Delta Connection (ComAir and Chatauqua).

Even when we fly with hubby's ECV they have been really helpful and accomodating.

This will be our 4th trip to MCO in the past 2 years and each time, we've flown Delta.

I personally prefer Delta Connection (Chataqua Airlines). Direct flights and small planes, which means quicker to load and unload.

I flew Delta from RDU to ATL in August. They closed the doors and as we taxied out to the runway, the pilot told us that he was trying to get us in the air as quick as possible b/c of weather (Charlie) but that ATL had put a hold on our flight. 5 minutes later, he came back on. They were able to change the route and we were on our way.

The only complaints I have concern vouchers. When the price of our July flights dropped, we received 3 vouchers, but I cannot use the one for DD's ticket, even though I paid for it. Since then, they now charge $100 if you want to get vouchers for fare reductions.

Wasn't Delta the 'official' airlines of WDW ages ago...I'm talking 25 years ago?

I think you're right. Weren't they the sponsors of the MK attraction Dreamflight, so it was really called "Delta Dreamflight"?

We flew Delta at the end of Sept for our Disney trip, my first time flying. I was hesitant because DH had a bad experience with the a couple years ago, but it was fine. Planes were all clean, staff was fine. Flights seemed fine to me, but I didn't know what to expect....

We used a Delta Connection for our flight down, and then Delta on the way back, with a plane-change in Atlanta. The Connection flight was delayed due to mechanical problems with the plane, but when the delayed flight got to Columbus, the pilot and crew switched to an identical plane without problems that was already in for the night.

Good morning!

I am flying Delta around the Thanksgiving holidays, and I bought my ticket from Hotwire. I'm a little concerned, especially with the financial troubles Delta seems to be going through. Has anyone ever had any trouble with a Hotwire ticket for Delta (or any other airline for that matter), such as being bumped for a scheduled flight due to the "cheap ticket price"?

Sweet Maxine, I too bought my ticket for my Thanksgiving trip through Hotwire. It's my first time going through Hotwire so I can't tell you about the possibility of being bumped. I did have my flight number changed once, but flight time and route is still the same.

Be sure to go to Delta's website and click on 'My Itinerary'. You'll be able to pick your seats for your flights. That gave me a little reassurance that my family would have seats.

Simba's Mom, I'm almost certain it was Delta's Dreamflight. Wasn't the song 'If You Had Wings'? One of those songs you couldn't get out of your head for the rest of the day? You know...we're dating ourselves don't you? Humm, guess I can't say I'm only 29 anymore (if my post said I remember Delta being the official airlines of WDW 25 years ago).

Kevenswife2,

I did go to Delta's website to try to pick my seat, and once I did, I got a screen that stated "All seat requests were honored". Then, I got another screen just after that that stated they were not. I printed off the page that showed my seat assignments, but when I looked again at the seating offerings, my seats showed up as available, not taken. That really gave me a scare, and I got that feeling that Hotwire ticketholders are the last people allowed on the flight.
