What's your exercise regimen like?

Just curious as to what type of exercise you do as part of your weight loss efforts? My exercise equipment of choice is the eliptical, however I have been known to use the treadmill, but it is definitely harder on the knees. I am trying to go to the gym 2-3 times a week and work out for 30 minutes, but I am not always successful at 2-3 times, sometimes there is just too much going on. I guess I need to prioritize. Since I started back on WW this week I have been trying to add steps to my day, walking further for different things if at all possible.

So how about you?

I have been on and off WW now for a while, so I don't know if my answer will be very helpful. Each time I got serious, I would go to the gym and work out. about 45-50 min of a mix of treadmill/stepper/eliptical and then I would do wts. I did this about 2-3 x a week. I did it all right away. Now I have changed my outlook on this. I am thinking way down the road, since I have a lot to loose, and I am worried about plateus. So, I decided to ease into WW as well as ease into exercise. I am just walking an extra 1/2 hr a day right now. I will eventually work in working out at home to my aerobic tapes. Then I will ease back into the gym and then add in some aerobics classes. I plan to add these in when I am ready, and hopefully I will avoid a long plateu. I figure if I "did it all" right away, I wouldn't have much to look forward to with exercising. I do like how my body feels when I exercise, so this plan is really exciting me!

So far this is a good plan for me. 4.5# off and lets just say a bunch to go. But I truly believe in my motto, that I have in my signature. Slow and steady, I am not there yet, but closer than I was yesterday!!!!!!:teeth:

Princess Vija, I love your motto!!! I will have to add that to my journal for inspiration. Congratulations on your 4.5# loss, that is wonderful. I hope I show a decent loss on my first weigh-in. I am having a hard time getting myself to the gym, I need to work on that. Did I read somewhere that you were doing WW as well, or maybe that was someone else. Good luck in your efforts, it sounds like you have a wonderful attitude and before you know it you will be snuggling on the couch watching your new DVD.

Hey! I am going to WW and working out about 3X a week. I need to go more because I am at a plateau right now. I have lost 15.6 since Jan. 2nd. I run, use the elliptical (sp?), row, bike and use wts. I am usually there about 1 1/4 hours. It is hard but I am making some progress and MY PANTS NOW FIT!!!

Hiya, Tiggerlover (nice name, BTW!) :)

Pat yourself on the back for making it to the gym at least once a week. I think you are very smart to add extra steps to your day. Every little bit helps! :) :) :) :) Sooner or later you will be working out as often as you'd like and it will be second nature to you!

I try to power walk every day, but usually I only make it out five days a week. It all depends on what is going on around the house and how the weather is. I'm lucky that my husband and sister like to power walk with me. We walk just under 3 miles a day (that's just how our walking course is laid out!) :)

I am slowly getting back into weight training. I love how lean and sculpted my body looks when I work out with weights. I just need to be more disciplined about it.

My sister wants to start jogging soon. We keep talking about entering a 3K, so we need to get training for that if it's ever going to happen.

Since the three of us started power walking together, we've noticed that we generally walk fast everywhere, especially at Disney. We are always zig zagging between all the slow tourists. :p My sister and I went to EPCOT on Tuesday so she could purchase some Hello Kitty items from Japan for a friend, so we made sure we walked all the way around the World Showcase and called that our exercise for the night.

I like what Princess Vija wrote in her post (and congrats to you, Princess, on your 4.5 pound loss!) I think sometimes the thought of exercising can be overwhelming when you think, "I should be doing all this..." I like to take one day at a time. I have some weight loss goals set, but not target dates to lose a specific amount of weight (that way there is no pressure or potential for disappointment if I don't lose X pounds by such and such a date).

Congratulations jlawall!!! Pants that fit are awesome!! :) I bought some cute capris last year around this time and they were super tight. By May they fit great. Over the winter I put on weight (thanks to Christmas and my mouth....) The pants were too tight a few weeks ago but I wore them comfortably yesterday. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels! ;)

Great post, Karen!

I agree that Princess Vija's signature line is terrific, I've taped it to my computer.
Congrats to all of you who have lost weight and have pants that fit!
The eating part I am getting under control, the workout is harder. That gives me an idea for another thread...

I work out 5 times a week for 30minutes. It is varied. Once a week is Tae-bo. Two or threes times a week is the gym at work which twice a week I do 15 minutes of weights and 15 minutes of an abs class. If I make it a third time then I do the treadmill. My other 2 workouts is on the weekend and is walking outside or if the weather is bad I do Tae-bo or Walking off the weight. I also walk 7 flights of stairs twice a day, morning and afternoon.

I sit on my couch and watch TV, while my cat sleeps on my treadmill.

Obviously, I need to work on this.

I use an elliptical trainer but I can't do more than 10 minutes at a time, so far. I also walk the dog one mile every night.

I plan to slowly increase my time on the elliptical trainer as I get more stamina. I also will be adding weight training soon.
